1 Hi $4 in ' 5? I Work Under Way By MARY WEIKUM Work is being done at the Green i School to ready it for the fall term. The rooms are nearing com- pletion in the annual cleaning job. The sewer installations are all! made, and there is some work i being done on the lawns and park-1 ing areas in the hne of beautifica- j tion. .- Sons Are Visitors Paul Smith of Los Angeles has i returned home after spending sev eral days visiting his mother, Mrs. Dorena Smith of Austin Road. An other son, David, also of Los An: geles, has been visiting his mother and has gone to Crescent City where he has accepted employ ment at the Glanvillc Box Co. Joe Michael, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Michael, is now employ ed as an announcer at KRNR. Joe went to school in Portland and then worked in Twin Falls, Idaho, fur a year before going to Salt Lake City, where he announced filr KALL radio station. He will make his home with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Thompson have returned to the area after liv ing in San Diego where he was serving in the Marine Corps. They visited with his mother, Mrs. Edna Thompson of Glengary, and are now temporarily residing in Rose- uiii'S- ' Visitors in Green over the week- j end were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mv ers and family, formerly of Green and now living at Crescent in east ern Oregon, where he was trans ferred to take over work in a new mill being started there by a local concern and owned by B. Coast Visitor H.,.- Mrs. Ann Button of M y r fl e Point has returned home after vis-! iiting with her sister, Mrs. Leroy Wilson, and family of Linnell Ave. Cindy Wilson accompanied her aunt back to Myrtle Point to spend several days. Among Green residents going to ' the coast over the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Holcomb and family who are spending the week camping at Sunset Beach. They are accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bridges and family of Roseburg. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bry son and son, Mike, and friend, Keith Weikum, also went to the coast on Sunday. Mike Bryson and Keith Weikum flew to Seattle Wednesday morning where they reported for a three week naval cruise in the Pacific. Both boys are in the naval re serve unit. John Richardson has gone to Camp Baker for a week where he is acting as counsellor for a group of Boy Scouts from the area, Mrs. C. H, Carroll of Broken Bow. Okla.. is visiting with her daughter, Mrs. John Clouse. and family of Bourne St. Mrs. Carroll came west by bus to Bakersfield, Calif., where she stopped to visit with her son, C. H. Carroll, and family in Shatter. Eisenhower ends a sentimental journey to the beaches of Normandy today and heads for home aboard the liner United States. The ship was scheduled to leave Le Havre at 2 p.m. For three days, Eisenhower worked before Columbia Broad casting System cameras as the key figure in a documentary film about the historic D-day landings on June 6. 1944. He revisited the now-p 1 a c i d beaches where Allied troops fought to gain the foothold in the beginning of the end for the Nazis. Joe Michael and his father, Ray Michael, went to Portland Friday where they took the latter's father-in-law, Ray Palmer, to University of Oregon Medical School Hospital where he will undergo heart sur gery some time next week.
