An opening bid was clearly called tor, but he passed. wests double of the opening club bid was shaded, but West had played with East before and knew that East was an underbidden East did pull himself together and go to four spades after North pre-empted with four clubs. Of course, an aggressive player might have bid five clubs right over four and tried for a slam, but as we have already noted, East was far from aggressive. After South went to five clubs West could find no excuse for any thing but a pass. Of course East should have tried a five heart bid. But East had made one bid with his hand and, feeling that he had done his full duty he passed. This put it up to West to lead and West planked down the ace of spades. South ruffed in dummy, drew trumps, discarded one heart on the king of spades and claimed his contract. A really good result because East could make six spades. (UI'l A court appearance is on the docket for Timothy Knapp, 25, to explain his impromptu strip performance along Sunset Strip recently. Police say Knapp carried out the strip while in a glass elevator moving up and down the outside of a five-story apartment build ing opposite a Sunset Strip night spot. Christine Draws Jeers Of Women LONDON (UPI) Women booed and shook their fists at Dlaveirl Christine Keeler, 21, Wednesday as Scotland Yard completed a mam moth report which may explode fresh sensations in the nation's simmering sex scandal. The playgirl ran the gauntlet of the hostile barrage in the after noon when she left the downtown apartment where she is staying. She was accompanied by her friend. Paula Hamilton-Marshall, 22, who rents the apartment. Elegant in a green costume and with her face tense and pale, Miss Keeler accelerated her car through the crowd of jeering wom en. On the basic of a dossier being prepared by Scotland Yard, legal sources said other key figures in the scandal, perhaps even includ ing Miss Keeler, may be charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice. Miss Keeler has been under doctor's supervision since she suf fered a near breakdown on hear ing of Dr. Stephen Ward's ap parent suicide. Mr. and Mrs. Paulus McKee and daughter, Carol, and son, Dick, of this city, left Tuesday night from Portland by Pan American World Wide Airways Jet for Honolulu, where the latter two will remain until Aug. 21 vacationing. Mr. and Mrs. McKee will remain in Hon olulu until Aug. 11, when they will fly to Djarkts, Indonesia, where McKee will attend to business. On their way home, they stopped in Klamath Falls to see their son, Joe Strick ling, and his family. Mrs. Wallace Amason (Betty Quine) and son, Henry, have left for their home in Fort Walton. Honda, following two weeks here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Quine, and with other icl atives and friends. Mrs. Amason is a sister of George K. Quine and Mrs. Charles Ostrander of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nelson of Hopkins, Minn., have returned to their home, following a trip here to visit the former's uncle and aunt, Dr. and Mrs. M. C. Cassel, and his cousin. Mrs. George K. Quine, and family. They were houseguests at the Cassel home on SE Kane St. and were dinner guests at the Quine home. The Nelsons had stopped over at points of interest in Washington and Or egon. From here they went on to Crater Lake before returning to Minnesota. Dr. and Mrs. Dallen Jones of this city returned Tuesday from a week's stay in New York City where Dr. Jones attended national convention of the National Veter inarian Association. He was the official delegate from the state of Oregon and Mrs. Jones represented the women's auxiliary. It was the centennial gathering of the associ ation and was held at the new 50 story American Hotel. The Jones made the trip both ways by jet plane.
