(News-Review photo) Oregon Wrestlers Defeat Picked HS Team In Japan TOKYO (UPI)-A team of Ore gon high school wrestling cham pions today overwhelmed a picked squad of grapplers from Southern Kanto (Eastern Japan) high schools, scoring seven wins and a draw out of eight bouts. It was the Oregon Huskies' eighth straight triumph by one sided scores after they fought to a 4-4 draw at this same audito rium in their debut, July 15, against a picked Kanto team. Rich Henjyoji, 110 pounds, of Cleveland High School, Portland, gave a good account of himself in the sweltering auditorium but was held to a draw by Kenichi Asano. It was his second draw against a record of one win and six losses on' the tour. The other results today were: 120 pounds: Rick Anders, Lin coln High School, Portland pinned Naohito Hiura, 6 minutes 48 sec onds. 130 pounds: Grant Humphrey, Klamath Falls High School, deci sioned Katsutoshi Ito. It seems if the Indians fail to win, runncrup Ta coma also loses. That was the case Friday night. Last place Seattle, in the North ern Division, revolted to win a 11-1 decision from the Indians with Hal Kolstad allowing but two hits. Oklahoma City took a 5-3 decision from Tacoma with Jerry Nelson allowing six scat tered hits. In other games, San Diego clobbered Dallas-Ft. Worth 17-4; Denver took both ends of a double header from Salt Lake City 2-1 and 9-2 in seven inning affairs and Hawaii took a pair from Port land, 3-2 and 8-3. Snaps String Kolstad really shook up the Spokane club. His victory broke a 10 game home winning streak, an eight in a row mark in PCL play and it was Seattle's first victory in Spokane in eight times this season. Kolstad retired 17 straight batters from the fourth to the ninth innings. Felix Mal donado led the Rainiers at the plate with four hits, four runs scored and two runs batted in. A two run home run by Danny Murphy and stingy six-hit pitching by Jerry Nelson gave Oklahoma South Douglas Defeated 13-3 The South Douglas All-Stars lost their first game in the state Babe Ruth baseball tournament at The Dalles Friday night when they dropped a 13-3 decision to power ful Klamath Falls. South Douglas meets Madison of Portland at 7 o'clock tonight in the hopes of keeping their tourna ment chances alive. Should they detcat Madison, the bouth Douglas squad will then take on the winner of the game between Jefferson of Portland and The Dalles. The winner of the second game tonight will face Klamath Falls in the championship bracket of the double-elimination tournament. Right-hander Bill See will start for South Douglas against Madison. In Friday night's game, Dennis Birenbaum and Vern Walker had two for four each to pace the South Douglas batters. Dub Thomp son, Jimmy Erwin and Jimmy Smith had the other three hits, all singles. Another fine pitching perform- Lumberjills Defeated 10-0 In State Softball Tourney The Roseburg Lumberjills, state "B" women's Softball champions, dropped a 10-0 decision to Eugene in the opening round of the state "A" tournament in Salem Fri day night. In the other game Salem edged Eagle Point 1-0. Drive 'N Save Wins SP Golf League Crown Drive 'N Save Market won the Stewart Park Golf League Cham pionship this week by defeating Riddle Drugs 8V4 tn Wi in match play. Each team used four players, with the lowest handicap player of one team matched against the lowest handicap player of the oth er. Three points were given for each match. One point was given for the winner of the first nine holes, one point for the winner of the second nine holes and one point for the winner of the 18 hole match. The match between Bill AUler son of Drive 'N Save and Elmer Condos of Riddle Drugs was high lighted by Alderson's eagle on the ninth hole. Alderson drove the 292 yard green and sank a six foot putt for his eagle. Alderson won 2'i to VS. In the other matches, Dick Da vis of Drive 'N Save defeated Don Rice 3 to 0; John Jones of Drive 'N Save defeated Gene Akers 2V4 to 'A; and Bob George of Riddle Drugs defeated Rusty Diehl Vh to Mi. Glendale Gal Sets Mark Shawna Baxter, 6, daughter of Bill Baxter, Glendale High School's new football coach and physical education instructor, and his wife, broke the record in a recent "all comers track meet" for six-year-olds held at Eugene. A total of 20 women participated in me mesaay event. During the July SPWGA meet ing, members discussed plans for the fall Handicap. It was also de cided to make the recent Guest Day an annual June event. SPWGA membership has doubled since it was started last season, and there are already many pros pects for next year. The next SPWGA meeting will be Aug. 26 and any women m the Roseburg area who are interested in golf ing are invited to attend.
