The Silver Spurs competed against the Reston Ridge Riders for the perpetual trophy. The show, put on for the men at the hospital, featured a combination of gomes and performance events. Riddle Family Leaves By Plane To Visit Relatives In London By ERMA BEST Mr. and Mrs. John T. Cumber lirlRo and infant daughter, Ann, of Riddle, left Sunday from Port land flying by tho polar route to London to visit their respective families. Cumberlidgo plans to re main in England for a month while Mrs. Cumbcrlidge and Ann will re main for two and one-half months. . Others On Trip Mrs. Leon Nichols and younger son, Gary, and Mrs. Harold Addis and three children are visiting rel atives in Oklahoma and Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Morrow flew to Kansas recently to spend a week visiting members of Mrs. Morrow's family. They were met at the Wichita airport by Mrs. Mor row's mother, Mrs. Mabel Hutch ins, and her brother, Ernest L. Branch, who took them to their homes in Arkansas City. They also visited several uncles and aunts in Oklahoma. Gladstone Meet IB go More than 3,000 Seventh-day Ad vcntist laymen from 371 churches in tho Pacific Northwest are at tending the laymen's Congress now its second and final week in Glad stone Park, near Portland, accord ing to Elton Hnnsen, chairman ot tho Board of Elders of the Roso burg Advcntist church. Tho pur pose of tho congress is to inspire and train laymen In effective meth ods of lay evangelism and Chris tian welfare and uplift activities. "Laymen on tho March for Christ" is the theme of the congress, Han sen reports. Official delegates to the congress have been chosen to represent the Advcntist churches in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alas ka and British Columbia and Al berta in Canada. Besides laymen, there are about 300 ministers and pastors in attendance. Tho program of the congress is under the direction of D. E. She is reported to be convalescing satisfactorily. Mother Visited Mrs. John Terry and daughter, Crickctl, visited Mrs. Terry's moth er, Mrs, Myrtle Roe of Culver. During her visit Mrs. Terry at tended the wedding of her brother. Mr. and Mrs. John Terry re cently visited Ted Nimm of Port land, former chief of police of Canyonville. Raylynne Terry, with Mrs. and Mrs. Delphis LcBlanc and Glenn Mailer attended the Seventh Day Adventist camp meeting at Gladstone. Hawk Ins and granddaughter. Shirley. of Albany, Ga. The two men are brothers and this was the first time in 33 years they had been together. His leave follows gradua tion from '.he electronics division of Keesler Air Base, Biloxi, Miss. Mr. and Mrs. John Mathis had as guests over the weekend their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. White of Klamath Falls, and their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Norlcins, and children, Scott and Kris, of Van couver, Wash. The group spent Sunday with the Mathis' son, Jack, and family in Roseburg. Mrs. Brenda Farley and daugh ter, Kac, have recently moved to the valley and are currently mak ing their home with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom tind lay. Forest Service re ports that the Little River Road dust oiling project has been com pleted after several postpone ments because of rain. The work was done during the week, rather than Like a chance of interrupting two consecutive weekends. The oil was provided by Arca dia Equipment Development Cen ter of Arcadia. Calif., a Forest Service service organization. It was applied by Bay Chemical Co of Tacoma. Wash. Wolf Creek Camp Worked Completed Improvements to Wolf Creek Forest Camn have been completed, reports Bud Jenkins, Little River District engineer. A reirmrced concrete walk was constructed last summer across the top of the dam to provide access to a nature trail. This trail is re plete with signs now pointing out both common and scientific names of a variety of forest trees and plants. At the campground Itself, a til teird water system has been in stalled to provide more than 25 gallons ot sale drinning water a minute. A previous water system was inadequate tor ramparound needs. A new source of water was tapped by building a small dam with a sand and gravel filler.
