Mrs. Dean Swanson of Glendale
was honored at a pink and blue
shower held recently at the home
of Mrs. Steve Sutch Sr. Mrs. Sutch,
Mrs. Fred Kafer, Mrs. Robert
Thompson, Mrs. Life Edson and
Mrs. Ben Whaley were the host
esses. The house was decorated with
pink and blue paper cradles and
ceramie vases shaped like baby
cradles and teddy bea'rs. The lace
covered gift table was dominated
by a large papier-mache stork.
After the honoree had opened
her gifts, the hostesses served re
freshments. The centerpiece on
the serving table was a miniature I

were married In a double-ring cere
mony Friday evening, June 28, at
the Fruitdale Community Church
of the Brethren in Grants Pass.
The bride was attended by Mary
eda Frost as maid of honor, and by
two bridesmaids, Loctta Roberts
and Karen Foster. Larry Worlcy
waa best man, while Clifford Wor
lcy, Don Nojfer, Darrcll Roberts
and Bill Frost acted as ushers.
The father of the bride officiated,
with the assistance of the Rev.
James W. Brembatmh of Seattle.
and also gave his daughter In mar
riage.

lighted the candelabra.
Music for the ceremony had been
recorded previously, wild Iho bride
singing, "u i'erieci Love ann a
Wedding Bendiction," accompanied
at (he piano by her bridesmaid,
Karen Fostor.
The church chancel was lovely
with large white basket! of while
ayringa, yellow gladioli, blue del
phinium and bluebells, arranged
by Mrs. Dona Vlnyard. The ends
of the pews along the main aisle
were trimmed with syringa and
white satin bows.
The bride wore a sheath dress
of heavy white satin brocade, de
signed and made by the bride. The
dress had i full floor-length over
skirt of the same material, and
waa detailed with a high neckline,
three-quarter length sleeves and a
wide satin sash. With it she woro
a pearl-effect tiara and fingertip
veil. She carried a bridal bouquet
of white carnations circling red
rosebuds. Her accessories included
a pearl drop necklace.
Her maid of honor woro a street
length town of vcllow satin lim
eade with a high neckline, short
sleeves and bell skirt. She wore a
pearl drop necklace and carried a
cascade of yellow Esther Heed
daisies. Her lioadplce was a tinv
crown of yellow tulle studded with
seed pearls and sequins.
The bridesmaids' blue satin hro
rado dresses were patterned after
that of the maid of honor, with
matching blue sash and headpieces.
Their bounuels and accessories
were Identical to that of the maid
of honor.

After the ceremony, the couple
received guests at a reception held
in the social parlors of the church.
They ut a four-tiered while wed
ding cake decorated with yellow
roses and white lily of the valley.
It was topped with large white
bells. The cake had been made and
decorated by Mrs. Homer Foster
and Mrs. Chester Lapp.
The room was decorated with
wedding hells and yellow and blue
streamers. The color theme was
carried out both in the serving ta
bles and the table whero gifts were
displayed.

After the reception the couple
left for a honeymoon on the Oregon
coast. For her goingaway dress,
the bride wore the sheath dress in
which she was married, without its
overskirt. With it she wore a red
satin cummerbund and a three
quarter oricnlal style straight
coat of while brocade lined in red
satin, along with the red rosebud
corsage from her bridal bouquet
and red accessories.
The couple will be at home at
2180 Hamilton Lane In Grants
Pass.
The bride was graduated from
Southern Oregon College in Ashland
and has been teaching at the Mur
phy Elementary School. The
bridegroom was graduated from
Gleiuiale High School and after that
attended LcTourncau Technical In
stitute in Longvlcw. Tex., for three
years. Ho is presently employed as
a diesel mechanic at Mcnasco Mo
tors in Grants Pass.

was performed by the Rev. Allen
G. Ingebrilsen, minister of the
Kailh l.ulhern Church of Rose
burg at g p.m. before 50 members
of the family.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William Endicott of Rose
burg. The bridegroom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Cart Arola of
Lower Garden Valley, Roseburg.
The Inn was decorated with

of while satin, with trailing over
skirt of chiffon, with lace floral
brocade on bodice and skirl. Her
shoulder length veil of French il
lusion was held by a crown of
pearls with cluster of satin roses
in the renter. She carried a white
Bible covered with stcphanotis and
a white orchid She carried a
handkerchief belonging to her great
grandmother, and wore a small
heart shaped necklace belonging to
her mother.
Matron ot honor was Mrs. Eu
gene Endicott, sislerin law of the
bride, who wore a full skirted dress
of lavender lace and chiffon. Her
headdress was of lavender lace.

Mr. and Mrs. Warren T. Cloake
celebrated their 50th wedding an
niversary June 23 at the First Con
servative Baptist Church with their
sons-in-law and daughters, the Rev.
and Mrs. Nick Neufeld and Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Langholff, as
hosts and hostesses.
For the qccasion, Mrs. Cloake
wore a lovely blue lace dress wun
a lace jacket. Her corsage was a
large orchid. The daughters wore
attractive afternoon dresses wun
carnations corsages.
The table was covered with a
white linen, tablecloth which was
centered with a beautiful tiered
wedding cake decorated with white
bells, gold roses and leaves. Also
on the table was a lovely arrange
ment of golden yellow roses in
beautiful cut glass crystal bowl
that was a weding gift to the
Coakes. The room looked lovely
with large gold bells hanging from
the lights, and small bells were
used as curtain tiebacks.
The floral arrangements were
made un of wild mock orange hlos
soma, yellow iris, Esther Reed
daisies, ferns and gold sprayed
leaves. There were two large bas
kets about the room, a bouquet
on the piano, and one to decorate
another table, that was fixed witn
pictures of the bride and bride
groom and their families from the
time they were children up to the
present.

Best man was George Arola,
brother of the bridegroom.
The bride's mother was attired
in a pastel orange linen crocheted
sheath dress with matching floral
hat and white accessories and a
corsage of white carnations. The
bridegroom's mother wore a beige
full-skirted dress with pink acces
sories and a corsage of pink car
nations. The guest book was presented
hy Dianna Maben of Portland.
The reception was held on the
covered patio. The serving table,
covered with lavender net over
white, was centered by a lovelv
three-tiered wedding cake topped
hy a minialure bride and bride
groom, flanked by silver candela
bra with white candles. Mrs. Mir
iam Scott of Portland, sister of the
bridegroom, served the cake.
Punch was served hy Marv Veltrl,
aunt of the bride. Faye Endicott,
aunt of the bride, served the cof
fee. For going away the bride chose
a pink suit with white accessories.

from her wedding bouquet.

Shower Theme
A pink and blue shower was giv
en in honor of Mrs. Robert Brown
of Seattle, Wash., Monday at the
Drain home of Mrs. Donald Brown,
assisted by Mrs. Glenn Neilson.
Mrs. Mickey Hubberd of Elkton
had baked and decorated a beauti
ful cake for the occasion. The
cake was decorated with pink and
blue rosebuds and was suitably in

ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Roderick of Sunnyside, Wash., announce the engagement
of their daughter, Leta Arlene, to Gilbert Warren Lang
holff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Langholff of Rose
burg. The bride-elect was graduated from Emmanuel
Hospital and is employed by Dr. Thornfield at the Pedia
tric Clinic in Portland.. The bridegroom-elect was graduat
ed from Roseburg High School in 1959 and is taking
mechanical engineering at Oregon State University, where
he will be a senior next term. The wedding is planned for
Sept. 21 to take place in Sunnyside. Wash. The engage
ment wos announced to friends and relatives here at the
golden wedding celebration of Mr, and Mrs, Warren
Cloake, grandparents of the bridegroom-elect, June 23.

Enjoyed
One of the loveliest affairs of
the season was held Sunday when
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Laurance cele
brated their golden wedding anni
versary at a large reception held
in tne Diuara-winston Methodist
Church social hall.
Host and hostesses for the oc
casion were Mr, and Mrs. W. T.
Mills of Springfield; Mr. and Mrs.
Earle Oakley of Roseburg, and Mr.
and Mrs. Hayden Laurance of
Days Creek. Mrs. Oakley and Mrs.
Mills are daughters of Mr. and
Mrs. C. C. Laurance and Havdcn
Laurance, their son. The Lauranc-
es also have eight grandchildren
and two great grandchildren.
Gold was the predominate color
carried out in the church social
room decorations. Floor baskets of
pink roses and blue delphinium
were used about the room and a
fan shaped bouquet of pink gladi
oli with gold foliage decorated the
piano. The piano arrangement Was
a gift to their grandparents from
Kathi and Tim Oakley.
The reception table was covered
with a white lace cloth and cen
tered with a tiered white wedding
cake beautifully decorated ' with
gold colored roses. The silver and
crystal candleholders used on the
reception table were a gift to the
church several years ago in mem
ory of Mr. Laurance's father, G. B.
Laurance. Serving the cake were
Mrs. W. H. McLain and Mrs. Fred
Burks, lister of Mr. Laurance.
Mrs. Gordon Burnett. Mrs. Roy
Rice and Mrs. Ruby Peterson, sis
ters of Mr. Laurance poured and
were assisted by Mrs. Sidney Mil
bauer. Four granddaughters of the
Laurances, Kathi Oaklev, Julie
Mills, Jill and Mary Laurance
were in charge of the guest book
and assisted in the serving. Back
ground music throughout the after
noon was played by Mrs. Bruce
Bridges of Eugene.
The Laurances were married on
June 2, 1913, in Roseburg, Ore.
Mrs. Laurance is the former Win
nie Norris. daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs.. Milt Norris who
were early day residents of Dil
lard. C. C. Laurance is the son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Laur
ance who moved to Dillard in 1903
from Ash County, N.C. The couple
made their home in Dillard for
many years later moving to South
Deer Creek and are at present
residing on their ranch near Gar
den Valley. Mr. Laurance is a
well known truck gardener and
rancher.
