WRONG ALL AROUND
JOPLIX, Mo. (UPH The Po
lice patrol car officer was
slumped Friday by a man who
spoke only Spanish, but apparent
ly wanted help. So. the officer
drove him to the police station.
An interpreter lound that the
man had mistaken the police car
for a taxicab and had wanted a

The man had made another
mistake.. He had alighted from a
bus in Joplin, but his daughter
lives in Kansas City, 170 miles

It's Easy to Write a Good
CLASSIFIED AD!
Many people yet confused when it conic to writing a Classified
Ad. Do You? If so, here are a few simple rules to make ad writ
ing easy. A good ad is Just conversation in print. So when you'ra
preparing tn place an ad, just write it the way you'd tell your
neighbor about it.
Avoid
Abbreviations x
Heady lo write the ad? Please,
no abbreviations. Studies of ad
vertising show that abbrevia
tions decrease readability. You
want people to read and un
derstand your message. Make
it as easy for them is you
can.
Why Leave Them
Guessing?
What do you want to sell or
buy? If It's an appliance, what
is Ihe brand? What's the size
or capacity? Model? Year? Any
accessories included? Does it
nerd repair, or ii it ready to
use? Now put yourself in the
buyers position. If you were
reading Ihis ad. what would
you like lo know? Price? By all
means put that in. tn nearly
every ad, price is the most
important information. Any
linn? else missing? If so, fill
in those blanks too.
