Couple Marries Vernalee Heath, daughter of L, I.. Heath of Itoseburg and Mrs. Betty Heath of Brownsville, and Carl Jennie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Jennie of Dillard, were united in marriage June in an aft ernoon ceremony at the home of Holbert Long, Itoseburg. The Rev. Lester Stone of t h e Southern Baptist Church perform ed the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a blue chiffon street-length dress. Her shoulder-length veil was held in place 'with while velvet bows and forget-me-nots. She carried a bou quet of white carnations and pale pink rosebuds. The bride g maid of honor was Joyce Heath, her sister. Clyde Strunk, brother-in-law of the bride groom, was nest man. Following the wedding cere mony, a reception was held at the Long home. Mrs. Leonard Sutton served the three-tiered wedding cake which had been made and decorated for the occasion by the bride's mother. Mrs. Art Olson pre sided at the punch and cotfee ta ble. The ncwlyweds are now at home to their friends at 4G6 NE Chest nut St. The bridegroom is employ ed by Roseburg Lumber Co. Coming from out of town for the occasion were the bride's mother, Mrs. Heath; her grandmother. Mrs. Teresa Fullagcr; and her brother and sister. Dale and Joyce Heath, all of Brownsville; her treat-aunt, Lcta Dawson, corvai lis; and an aunt, Marilyn Wendell of Albany. Reports Heard At Rebekah Meet The Mountaineer Rebekah Lodge met recently and heard re- team which represented the lodge! at the Rebekah Assembly at The Dalles. Mrs. Curtice Daniels, the new district deputy president, and Mrs. Firlcy Winkleman, who attended the assembly as a delegate from the lodge, also gave reports. The hall was cleverly decorated I with fishing gear, in keeping with j a Father s Day theme. The men in attendance were es corted and honored by an appro priate poem read by Mrs. Mary Wright, noble grand. They also re ceived gifts. Those participating were I'erli Winkleman, Sid Per ry, Whiting Martin, W. R. Steven son. Jack Vincent and William iNvnsteil. A quartette. Mrs. Don Thomas, Mrs. Carl Ford. Martha Garner Becomes Bride The Winston Assembly of God Church was the scene of the June I 14 wedding of Martha day darner of Winston and William Forrest Johnston of Tenmile. The Rev. Wil liam A. Garner was assisted by the Rev. Dale Hoskins of Itoseburg in performing the impressive double ring ceremony before 175 relatives and friends The bride is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. William A. darner of Winston. Parents of the bride groom arc Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur E. Johnston of Tenmile. The beautifully decorated church featured a specially uesigneu la.ge white heart. The heart theme was followed in the decorations of the church. Three baskets of flowers were filled with various shades of lilac, rose and brown iris, fox- gloves and snapdragons, backed by mock orange blossoms and fern. A half-hour recital of organ mus- ic preceded the ceremony, played by Miss Vuloa White. Mrs. Esther Shaffer of Canyonvdle, organist, accompanied Al llooten as he sang, "1 Love You Truly," "Because" and "Together. Preceded bv her attendants, the bride entered on the arm of her father to join the bridegroom be fore the altar. The Rev. M. Hos kins then relinquished the honor to his daughter in marriage. For her wedding, the bride chose a lovely floor length gown of white embossed peau dc soie, simply de tailed with fitted bodice, scalloped neckline and lonH tapered sleeves with dovered buttons. The fitted bodice had a boat neck line and elbow-length sleeves. The skirt had a long apron-type front and a long straight flowing train in the back. The dress was trim med with lace in rose design. Candlclighlcrs were Donald Johnston, brother of the bride groom, and Sonny Cooper. Little Marlene Smallwnod, in lilac dress designed like the brides maids, served as flower girl. The ring bearer, David Mitchell, car ried a heart-shaped satin pillow. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Ciarner wore a pink crepe dross with white accessories. Her cor sage was white carnations. The decorations for both Hie wedding and the reception were 'nrranped by Mrs. dracc Nicholls and Mrs. Helen Stoltenberg. Pre siding over the guest hook was Miss Norma Kerrick. Receiving and opening the gifts were Miss Janie Metcalf, Mrs. Ethel Carlton and Mrs. Anna Kerrick. The beautifully decorated five tiered cake on colonnades was cut by Mrs. Beryl Jackson and served by Mrs. Eva Waters, Assisting them at the reception table was Mrs. Nellie Sanborn, with Mrs. Ruby Cooper at the coffee urn and Mrs. Helen Patitz at the punch bowl. Mrs. Marie Jameson was in charge of the serving. They plan to attend north west Bible College in Kirkland, Wash., this fall. Her wedding bouquet was of white carnations and stepha notis. Miss Betty Young was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Don Tinseth, .Miss Diane Paulsen, sis ter of thc bride; -Miss Marlee de Place; and Miss Carol Swanson of Portland, sorority sister of the bride. All wore moss-green peau de soie sheath dresses. Their hats were of white roses and petal shaped net. The girls wore long white gloves and curried round bouquets of white and tangerine colored carnations. Junior bridesmaids were Miss Dawn Paulsen, sister of the bride, and Miss Rita Gates, her cousin. They wore white gowns. Their hats and bouquets were miniatures of those of thc bridesmaids. Candle lighters were Miss Anne McDuffee and Miss Deanna Russell. Their dresses were moss-green and their hats matched those of the brides maids. Their wristlets were of tangerine-colored carnations. John Wheeler was best man. Groomsmen were Irvin Thrush of San Diego, brother of the bride groom; Harry Ketchum of The Dal les; and Wayman Schmidt and Dwain Brown, both of Camas Val ley. The bride's mother wore a two piece flowered dress of moss green, pink and white with pink hat and white accessories. The bride groom's mother wore a light blue sheath dress with flowered jack et and blue hat. Their corsages were of white carnations. A reception following the wed ding was held in the church an nex, with thc bride's parents as hosts. Tangerine and white carna tions ilccorated the reception ta bles. Mrs. Keith llockcrsmith and Mrs. Martin Gates, aunt of the bride, cut and served the cake. Mrs. Kenneth Wold of Central Point and Miss Linda Thrush of Camas Valley, sister of the bride groom, served the punch. Mrs. lister Wilcox ot central 1'oini naa charge of the reception. For her wedding trip the bride wore a white cotton knit suit with pale blue and white accessories. The carnations from her bridal bouquet made her corsage. The bride was graduated from Medford High School and attend ed Oregon State University for three years, majoring in home economics education. She is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. The bridegroom was graduated from Camas Valley High School and Is a IMS forestry graduate from Oregon Stale University. He 'was "Commissioned at graduation as a second lieutenant in me u.s. Marine Corps. In August he will begin night training in i-ensacoia, Fla. Prior to August, the couple will be at home in Camas Val ley. Among the out-of-town guests at tending the wedding were Miss Music Thrush of Camas vancy ana Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wheeler and Joyce of Springfield, former Rose burg residents. Reeces Hosts At Card Party A pinochle party was held re ecntly at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Bud Recce, Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. John Mclnik, Mr. and Mrs. Tom my Slovall, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Noel, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fcst and Mr. and Mrs. Recce. This was the last pinochle party until fall. Prizes were won by Joe Fcst and Alvin Johnson. Refreshments were served at the close of the evening. Angela Laurancc was bridesmaid. They were clad in dresses of powder blue taffeta with overskirts of chiffon. They carried pink carnations, and their acces sories matched their frocks. Karen Bates, thc bride's niece, was flower girl. She wore pink taffeta with a pink chiffon over skirt. A reception was held following tho wedding. The lovely three-tiered cake was topped with an ar rangement of largo wedding bells. Kill n Bradley did thc serving. The ncwlyweds honeymooned at the coast and are now at home in Myrtle Creek. The brido attended Roseburg High School. The bridegroom was graduated from Myrtle Creek High School. He is engaged in construc tion work. A basket of blue and white Cant erbury bells, a gift from Blanche Elliott, was used in the lodge room and later for the refreshment ta ble.
