Tonight the Lockwood Motors nine will host Grants Pass in a non-league twin-bill at 6:30 p.m. at Legion Field. Thursday a pair of Doug-Lane League counters are on tap at South Eugene against Pitchford's. Game time at South Eugene is set for 4 p.m. .Friday the local crew will -head for the coast and a single non counter with Marshfield. The nine inning outing at Marshfield is scheduled for 8 p.m. Sunday it will be back to league play, with powerful Springfield in vading Legion Field for a 6:30 p.m. double bill. , Going into the league outings with Pitchford's, Roseburg is atop the standings with perfect 4-0 record. Following close on the heels of the local crew is Springfield with a 4-1 mark, Snellstrom Lumber (Sheldon) with a 2-1 record and South Eugene. Pitchford's has handed Spring field its lone setback, 2-0, as Jerry Gjesvold twirled a nifty one-hitter. Gjesvold is an almost certain start er in one of the outings against Lockwood Motors. In league action Ran Cool and Dick Williams are scheduled to han dle the majority of the pitching chores. Cool leads the Roseburg mound staff with a 6 0 record. The flashy Drain left-hander has fan ned 86 batters in 38 innings. Williams has compiled a 4-1 rec ord on the season. Set for action in the non-league outings is Ron Westbrooks, 2-2, Jerry Boucock (1 1), John Burnham (0-1) and Rojel io Gutierrez (0-0). Gutierrez recent ly joined the Roseburg team and is expected to make his debut this week. Jim Beamer will work behind the plate for Lockwood Motors, with Mike Markham capable of giving the veteran backstop some rest. Beamer leads the team in RBIs with 17 and is packing a healthy .358 batting average. Tentative infield starters include Dave Sevall at first, Lance Case beer at second, Boucock or Bob Kinyon at third and Artie McDon ald at short. Boucock is the top hitter among the regulars with a .409 average. The spunky third baseman-pitcher has only been at bat 22 official times, but many walks have helped him to score 10 runs. , In the outfield ' Roseburg will have Mike Blomberg in left, Bob Manning in center and Tom Morri son in right. The home doubleheader with Springfield has been changed from Saturday to Sunday at 6:30 p.m. following a change which pits Rose burg against Pitchford's (South Eugene) this Thursday rather than Wednesday. The games at South Eugene will begin at 4 p.m, ,A family night has been set for July 9 with Ashland invading for a single nine-inning game at 8 p.m. Make-up dates for the Albany-Rose-burg doublebill and the Sheldon Roseburg league games have been set for July 20 and 24 respectively. Both doubleheaders will be played at 6:30 p.m. at Legion Field. These games were rained out last week. Season ticket holders will find attendants punching game No. S tonight, with the Albany and Shel don games counting as numbers 12 and 13. The Ashland game is not included on the season tickets. Remaining games on the season tickets are: June 25 against Grants Pass; June 30 against Springfield; July 8 against Medford; July 10 against North Eugene; July 12 against Sweet Homer July 13 against Corvallis; July 17 against South Eugene; July 20 against Al bany; and July 24 against Sheldon. is about three times as big." The program will got un der way at 8:30 p.m. Highlight of the show will come when Don Chadwick, acclaimed as the world champion of stunt drivers, broad junips his car from one elevated ramp to another ramp E laced 85 feet down the track. As is car flies throuuli the air an other car will pass directly under- ncam in an aerial criss-cross. As part of the stunt exhibition, stock cars will be crashed end- over-end at high speeds while the drivers remain at the wheel in what is known as a "crash-roll" contest. Bill Williams of Hollywood has rolled his car as many as 11 times in mis event. Points are scored by the con testant each time they complete a successful roll-over. The driver amassing the most points is dc-' clarcd the winner. Another daredevil will attempt the "slidc-for-life" when he leaps from the rear of a speeding car into a pool of flaming gasoline. In addition, motorcycles will crash through flaming board walls and be leaped over parked cars. One of the most hazardous of automobile stunts will be attempt ed in the "dive bomber" crash. In this stunt the driver races his car up a, ramp at a milc a-minulc speed, then flies into space and crashes into two parked cars. A balancing teat will De attempt, ed as one of the featuro events. Riverside now sports a 2-0 league mark, while Fremont and Rose burg have 1-1 records and East wood is winlcss in two starts. Anderson struck out Giardello Records Unanimous Decision PHILADELPHIA (UPI) -Suear Ray Robinson planned to an noucc today whether he would re tire because of last night's lop sided beating by middleweight contender Joey Giardello at Con vention Hall here. Giardello of Philadelphia, third ranking contender, floored 43-year-old Hay in the fourth round, had him reeling In the sixth and holding on in other ses sions as Joey won a unanimous 10-round decision. A near-capacity crowd of 8,598, which paid an estimated $59,097, roared encouragement to Robin son the former welterweight champion and record five-time middleweight ruler in the sev enth and eighth rounds when Ray rallied magnificently. But he ran out of gas again in the ninth and 10th. Giardello, 32, who expects his victory to bring him a title fight in October or November, said he felt sorry for New Yorker Robin son. Exhibit A is Dick Radatz of the Boston Red Sox the American League's relief pitching marvel. And Exhibit B is Ron Herranoski of the Los Angeles Dodgers per haps the No. 1 relief ace in the national League. Both attended Michigan State in the late 1930s and then went on to careers in big league base ball. Radatz is a huge right hander and Pcrranoski a slim left-hander but both net the iob done in remarkable fashion. Pcrranoski, sometimes over looked because of the presence of Don Drysdale and Sandy Koufax on the Los Angeles staff, has compiled a 7-2 record. He's re lieved in the Dodgers' last fivo games, pitching a total of nine innings without allowing a run. The 26-year-old native of Pater son, N.J., hustled out of the bull pen for the fifth straight game Monday night and pitched two scoreless innings tn preserve a 5-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds that, lifted the Dodgers to within ono game of the National League lead. His airtight hurling also enabled the Dodgers to end six and walked seven. Woodman, while giving up one hit to River side, walked six and fanned 12. Fremont exploded in the first inning to roll to the easy victory over Eastwood. The winners put together five hits, three walks and two errors in tho first frame to grab a lopsided 10-0 lead.
