Whitney was formerly in charge of the mining operation at Jlanna. The family was widely entertained while here. West Point Destination Mrs. Donald Brown, son, John, and daughter, Doncll, are visiting with relatives in Wisconsin before John goes on to New York to enter West Point on July 1. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Preston and children, Sara, Charles and William, have gone to Palo Alto. Calif., to attend the graduation of their daughter, and sister, Noralou, from Stanford University, and her weding to Leslie Roos the follow ing day. Her uncle and aunt, Mr, and Mrs. Lee Preston, and daugh ter, Patricia, have also gone to Palo Alto for the graduation and wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gondos, who had been visiting in Black foot, Idaho, with her father, flew to Grand Creek, Conn., on the east coast to visit his sister before re turning home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Roderick Neilson and two children of Bandon were weekend visitors at the home of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. K. P. Blundell. Airs. Niclson and children will leave next week to fly by jet over the North Pole to her former home in Germany. Neilson will join them later next month. Helen Toiler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alcrrill Toiler of tins city, loft hy bus last week for Mor ro Buv. Calif., to spend the sum mer with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. William Payne, and sons. She will be helping during the sum mer inonlhs with the variety store operated by the Paynes. A tour of San Francisco attractions, includ ing the zoo, parka and museums is also on Helen's agenda while in the bay area. She will also take part in the summer band pro gram at Morro Bay. She will re turn to Roscburg to attend Joseph Lane Junior High tn the fan. All except Miss Logan, who went Sunday, drove down with Mrs. Crooch last Satur day. Mr, and Mrs. Leroy lnman left todoy for Magruder to bring the group of young folks home on Saturday. Mrs. Crooch. who work ed as a counselor at Magruder, will be returning to Salem for a brief alay. Jim, who obtained his ham radio oper ator's license at 14, was graduated from Roseburg High School in ; 1959. He completed a 96-week ; course in electronics at the DcFry Technical Institute in Chicago. HI. Jim is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Flynn Sr. of this city. and two daughters have moved from hugene to Rice Creek Road, Dillard. Ketchum is foreman for Pacific Plywood. Mr. end Mrs. James D. Nelson are newcomers from Long Beach, Calif, and are residing at Dillard. Nelson is with Roseburg Lumber Co. Mrs. A. J. Young of this city left Thursday for Portland to attend the Job's Daughters Grand Session. Mrs. Young, a former guardian of Roseburg Bethel No. 8, is a past Grand Guardian of Oregon and a past supreme officer of the Inter national Order of Job's Daughters.
