TO MARRY Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Barg of Roseburg an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Morjorie Ann, to Albert 0. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Johnson of Maddock, N.D. The bride- elect was graduated from Roseburg High School and Oregon State University ond is girls counselor at North Da koto State Industrial School. Mr.' Johnson was graduated from Maddock schools ond is employed at the US Weather Bureau as on electrical tech nician in Fargo, N.D. The wedding will take place in late summer in Mandan, N.D. The double ring ceremony was used Tuesday, May 11, for the wedding of Maggie Jean Davis of Sutherlin and Ralph James Tag gart of Glide. The nuptials took place at 8 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Roseburg, the Rev. Robert D. llempcl officiating. More than 200 guests were present. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Allen Davis of Sutherlin. The bridegroom's par ents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ralph Taggart of Glide. White and blue stock were used in the church decorations. Mrs. Kenneth Ewens was organist and accompanied Mrs. Robert Hcmpel, who sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "Because." The bride was given in mar riage by her father. She was charming in her gown of all-white taffeta and chiffon, styled with full skirt, fitted lace bodice and long sleeves. The dress had detailing of white satin. The bride carried a white Bible topped with two white cymbidium orchids. Mrs. Kenneth Spiccr of Sweet Home was matron of honor. Mar ion Taggart, sister of the bride groom, was bridesmaid. Both wore light blue taffeta sheaths with matching blue overskirts. Their Gladys Strong Presents Piano Students Monday On Monday evening a piano re cital was given by students of Miss Gladys Strong. The pupils were largely Junior and Senior High stu dents. The program was very in teresting as the literature chosen was fine and the students played well showing both developing mu sicianship and poise in performance. The recital was the third in a se ries being given in May and June. It was given at Miss Strong s resi dence studio on Southeast Main Street. A social hour was enjoyed Mrs. Hall Heads PTAAtDillard The last meeting of the Dillard PTA for the season was held re cently at the Dillard School at 7:30 fi.m., with the installation of new y elected officers for the 1963-64 year. The installation was conducted by Mrs. Jack Nelson for the follow ing: President, Mrs. Sid Hall; first vice president. Mrs. Jack Hill: sec ond vice president, Mrs. Glen Gal- la; secretary, Mrs. Thomas Jacobs, and treasurer, Mrs. Bryant Ward. Mrs. Thomas Jacobs gave a res ume of the recent PTA convention held in Portland. The new charier for Cub Pack 136. which the PTA sponsors, was presented by Bob Curtis. Mrs. Sid Hall presented the re tiring president, Mrs. Don Wein berg, with a past president's pin. Following the meeting, the fourth and fifth grade students entertain ed with Spring Festival mu sical program, after which a so cial hour was enjoyed and refresh ments were served. Potluck Enjoyed At Lookingglass Mrs. Ethel Meyer and Mrs. Dor- otny Holing were hostesses tor the delightful social evening and pot luck dinner at the Lookingglass Grange Tuesday. Arie Roth entertained the group with a showing of the many fine slides he took on his recent trip aoroan. un nis trip he visited Hol land, Denmark, West Berlin, Spain, Portugal. Italy. Austria, and V.nti land. Coupled with his interesting and intimate comments, Roth gave trie group an inspiring evening. Guests included: Mr. and Mrs, Hollis Real and daughters. A reception was held in the fel lowship hall following the cere mony. Mrs. Fred Meisner served the wedding cake. Mrs. Edward Charon and Mrs. Bruce Steiner poured punch and coffee. Miss Jen ny Carson of Sweet Home present ed the gifts, and the gifts were cared for by Jewel Morgan and Kathi Williams. Others assisting were Mrs. Carl Morgan and Mrs. Richard Abercrombie. The couple honeymooned at the Oregon Caves and Trees of Mys tery. For traveling, the bride wore a white polished cotton dress. The young people are now at home In Glide. The bride attended Sutherlin High School and Northwest Nazarene College. The bridegroom was grad uated from Glide High School and attended Oregon Technical Insti tute. He is currently employed by Eugene Veneer. The District was very fortunate in securing Miss Gruy as she is a very fine musican and also a fine adjudicator. The examinations which are giv en annually by the Oregon Music Teachers' Association are open to members of OMTA. They aro grad ed from very elemcntiiry to ad vanced work. The required stand ards are high and include theory and suitable repertoire for tho level of each examination. Mrs. S. C.
