At the end of the season an all star team will be selected to com pete in the District IV Babe Ruth playoff, competing against other all-star teams from Douglas Coun ty for the right to travel to the state tournament. Bruce Stubblefield, driving a Plymouth, captured an .award in the B stock automatic competition, while Gary . Edwards earned a trophy with his Corvette for his driving in the B modified sports car division. " Alex Friedman piloted ' his Cor vette to victory in the D sports car classification and Jay Stone drove bis Chevrolet for a trophy in the C stock car action. The fifth victory was won by Red Linson, driving his Ford, flathead, in the C street roadster division. 'The Roseburg nine' romped to 6-12 and 7-0 triumphs over the in vading Willamette (Bethel Legion) team as Dick Williams and Ran Cool turned ia sparkling pitching performances. Williams scattered six hits over the seven inning route ia the first halt -of the double bill as he im proved his record to 2-1. Williams' control was near perfection as he walked just one batter while fan ning five. - Cool came on in the nightcap to shut-out the invaders with a nifty, three-bitter. The flashy left hander atruck out 14, walked two and was tagged for just three sin gles. Cool has now struck out 44 batters in It innings and is boast ing a 3-0 record . for the season. During his 19 Innings on the mound, Cool- has given up just five hits- all Singles.' v Bob Manning provided the pow er, in the first game with a tower ing circuit clout for three runs in the' fifth inning, while Jim Beamer came through with a triple in his first appearance at the plate to run his hit string s to five straight before grounding out in the fourth frame. Lockwood Motors took the lead in the second inning of the open ing game when Beamer led off with his triple to deep. left. Roseburg blew the game ' wide open in the fifth with a four-run rallv. Williams was hit by the Ditcher and McDonald followed with a base on balls. Mike- Blom berz was safe on a hard smash which went through the second baseman's legs as Williams raced home.
