The '. host and hostess were assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Brown. '. Reception hours were from 3 to 5 p.m. '. Preceding the affair, a turkey dinner was served in honor of the . couple and their son and daughter ' in law, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd McKay, '. and children, Duane and Diane, of ; Ix)S Altos, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. ". Kula Phillips of Portland; and Mrs. Harry Band from Poulsbo, wash,, " a sister of Mrs. McKay. The serving table was covered by a beautiful lace cloth and cen ; tercd with an arrangement of spring flowers. The four-tiered ; wedding cake had been baked by - Mrs. Brown, sister of Mrs. McKay, ; and decorated with wedding bells - hy her niece, Mrs, Ariyn Van " Cleave. Among the many gifts and cards ,' presented to the couple was a - money tree. A beautiful bouquet of gold snapdragons, daisies and carnations in a large gold bowl . was a gill from the couple s daugh ' ter, Mrs. Phillips, and granddaugh ter, Margaret Phillips. Assisting Mrs. McKay and Airs. . Brown in serving were Mrs. Del McKay, Mrs. Floyd McKay. Mrs Harry Baird, Mrs. Carl Lehman : and Mrs. M. B. Van de Grift. Senior banquet and prom, held Alay 4, was the most elaborate ever to bo staged by n Glide junior class. The ingenuity of Hie decoration committee In carrying out I h theme, "Carousel," in two build ings, was astounding and repre sented much work by the mem bers of tho junior class. Prancing horses, four feet in height, ami painted brown, white and black, adorned tho walls of the large multi-purpose room where the banquet was held. From a red and white striped center pole, brown and yellow erepe paper streamers were strung to all four walls. On the long white banquet tables, small red canopies, carousels with miniature cardboard horses and a tiny American flag on the top, were spared at intervals with ar rangements of yellow tulips and white candles in between. The placccards weiti also handmade with gold lettering. Tho theme had been kept a close secret until the nielit of the event. Mis Ruth llinshaw of the Gam ma Theta Chili gave the opening prayer. Stan Young followed with a toast. John DcGront, president of the junior class, presented the address of welcome and the tri bute to tho seniors was given by Aliss Barbara Miller. Miss Allelic Paulsun, president of the senior class, gave the response. Soft music on records was played dur ing the dinner hours. One hundred and fifty persons were served the excellent fried chicken dinner prepared by Mrs. Clyde Haynes, head cook at the high school cafeteria and served by members of the Boys U-aguc. Guests at the banquet were Supt. and Airs. John Thompson; the high school faculty and their wives; school board members, Mr. and Airs. Hurry Young, Mr, and Mrs. Howard Hatfield, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Haas, Mr. and Mrs. Hell Allenby and Mrs. Harry (Virgin ia) Steele, board member from Toketee, with her husband, also Airs. Gill Magness, secretary to Supt. Fluke, and her husband. Tlie banquet ended at 8 p.m. and Junior and senu.r students and their guests proceeded to the ball room at the Glide Elementary gym iiaMiim. Again elaborate decora tions prc ailed, depicting the theme "Carousel" In the vast room, 84 feet in length. Hundreds of lavender uud purple streamers were looped from the center of the ceiling to each side of the room The oiilslanding decoration was a replica of a merry-go round, nine feet in diameter, with canopied top and four painted horses. These excellent models were made of wire anil paper maihe by Miss Lynn Duncan, a junior, ' assisted by her mother. Pink covered ta bles surrounded the outer edge of the danre floor. Punch and cookies were on a buffet table for the dancers to serve themselves. Alusic for dancing was provided by the popular Oregon Ja.i Band. At intervals, entertainment was provided by local talent and Wayne, Scott and Mary, a trio from Rosebiug. Ha who is retiring as principal of Rose School after 37 years, was held Sunday afternoon at the school with more than 200 guests enjoying the occasion. Tulips and lilacs, flanked by tall tapers, graced the beautifully ap pointed serving table arranged by Airs. Earl Wiley. FIRST COME FIRST SERVED HUCREST SCHOOL Rose School, a position held con tinuously until his retirement this month. In addition to the respon sibilities of serving as principal of the school. Eli coached football and basketball and served as dramatic coach plus teaching the sixth grade. He has seen Rose School grow from a small school to present time with many hun dreds of students. Rose School, under Hall's leadership, has been a first in many activities and proj ects. Alany students beginning their studies under Hall have become prominent in many fields of en deavor. James Gregory, who will become the new principal of Rose School, plans to carry on the same high principles set by his predeces sor. Guests calling to congratulate Air. Hall included many of his board members and PTA workers. Rose School PTA members acted as hosts and hostesses for the oc casion. The Halls will continue to make their home in Roseburg.
