Grange Meeting The Lookingglass Grange opened its lovely new hull on Saturday April 27 for the meeting of the Douglas County Pomona Grange. The program opened with a deli cious potluck dinner at 7 p.m., fol lowed by the regular session con ducted by Harold Densmore, Po mona lecturer. Approximately 120 were served. Highlighting the program was the appearance of a group of SO sing ers and dancers of all ages from Junction City, who presented a col orful Scandinavian Festival. Mrs. Karl Petersen and Mrs. Elmer An , drews were in charge of the pre sentation. All taking part in the festival were in native costume. The countries of Sweden, Norway, F 'land and Denmark were repre sented. Songs and dances portray ed the different countries. Included in the troupe wore several children of 4 and 5 years old who captivated the audience, with their naive per formance. Winners of the district Pomona , Youth Talent contest held recently at the Dorcna Grango were David and Danny Burnett of the Drain High School. They presented their prize winning novelty number, "Alan and Woman. A cake sale was held In connec tion with the evening's activities and sum of $63.80 was turned to the Home Economics Club schol arship fund. Eighteen candidates received their obligation in the fifth degree at the meeting. Pomona officora in attendance were Master Carl James and Mrs. James; lecturer. tt. Wishart of Roseburg onnounce the engagement of their daughter, Karen io John Kerr, son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Kerr of this city. The bethrothal was told Satur day night ot Beta Theta PI house dance at Oregon State University. Jim Jarvis, o frat ernity brother, stopped the the music to make the an nouncement. The fraternity serenaded the couple follow ing the announcement. Both Karen and John attend Ore gon State University, where the latter will be graduated from the school of science In May. Friendship Night Held Wednesday Nine Southern Oregon chapters were represented when Oregon chapters were represented when Oregon Chapter No. 57, Order of eastern Mar, was host at a Friend slip Night Wednesday at the Ma sonic Temple and Canvonvillp. Mrs. William Belcher. W.M.. and William Belcher, W.P., greeted the guests. The worthy matron's theme. "Love," and her emblem, t h e white dove, were used in decora ting both the hall and the dining room set off with pink crepe paper streamers. Girls from South Douglas Assem bly, Rainbow for Girls, which Ore gon chapter sponsors, presented a program preceding the meeting. Two comedy skits and a baton drill were included. Grand officers present included Canada Wiseman of Grants I'nss, a past grand matron; Morris Boughncr of Medford, a past grand patron; Mrs. John Wright of Myr tle Creek, associate grand matron; Mrs. Frances Kalina ot Malin. grand Adah, and Elmer Love of Riddle, a Grand Committee mem ber. Also introduced were four worthy patrons. Chapters from Jacksonville. Med ford, Grants Pass, Glendale, Rid dle, Myrtle Creek, Roseburg, Oak land and Malin were represented. Serving as hostesses during the refreshment hour were Mrs. lco Davidson. Mrs. William Preston, Mrs. Milton Herbert. Mrs. Lyall Byrd and Mrs. Richard Prairie, Table favors of clasped hands car ried out the theme of the evening. Men of the chapter will be hosts at the next meeting honoring moth era. Evans of Glide, at a beautiful can dlelight ceremony. The wedding took place on Saturday evening, April 13, in the Junction City Meth odist Church, with Rev. Wayne Brown officiating at the double ring service. Given in marriage oy her father, the bride wore a white floor-length gown of sheer silk organza, sheath style witn camciot oversKin ot embroidered organza. She wore a brief veil of illusion, held by a pearl tiara, and carried a cas cade bouquet of gardenias, pink roses and feathered carnations tied with shower ribbons. Mrs. Vern Oremus of Eugene was matron of honor. She wore a gown of white chiffon with floral print pattern in shades of pink. She carried an arrangement of pink rosebuds and delicate fern, tied with pink ribbons. Miss Ellen Pacscheke, bridesmaid wore a sim ilar dress and carried a pink rose. Christopher J. Evans, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were John Subrstedt, John Livingston and Daniel Montgom ery, brother ot tne onae. Larry Brown was organist ana accompanied Mrs. Philip Buck who sang "0 Promise Me" and "The See your Oalrt X. Trowbridge Electric Um poire Of Lord's Prayer." Baskets of chrsanthemums and stock and candles in candelabra decorated the altar. Mrs. Montgomery, mother of the bride, wore a sheath dress of soft green brocade on bone - colored background with matching acces sories. Her corsage was green tint ed carnations. Tbe bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Evans wore a pink silk sheath with all-over embroid ery. She wore white accessories. Her corsage was pink and white carnations. Following the ceremony, a recep tion was held in the church parlor. Cake was served by Mrs. C. S. Dil lon of Eugene, the bride's aunt; and Mrs. Gordon P. Evans, aunt of the bridegroom. Mrs. Fred Wil liams cared for the punch bowl and Mrs. Willard Loveless poured the coffee. Both are aunts of the bride. Mrs. Larry Gilson of Klam ath Falls, the bride's cousin, at tended the guest book. Janet Ev ans and Debbie Jacobsen, the bride's cousins, cared for the gifts. The table centerpiece was of white stock and pink chrysanthemums. For traveling, the bride chose a suit in beige linen with lime and bone-colored accessories. Following a trip to the coast, the couple is at home in Eugene, where the bride groom is a journalism student at the University of Oregon. Mrs. Ev ans is with Timber Tractor Co.
