Braves Come Reds Knock SF Out Of Top Spot ' By United Prats International How can a team look so bad against the New York Mets and so good against the National League's best pitcher? That's what Milwaukee Manag er Bobby Bragan was asking him self today after his Braves bounced back from a "lost weekend" in New York by blasting their way to a 10-2 victory over Don Drys dale and the Los Angeles Dodgers Monday night. "I guess our guys were just glad to leave that chamber of horrors in the Polo Grounds, said Bragan in explaining the manner his Braves recovered from four straight losses to the Mets. Drysdale lasted only five in nings as the suddenly aroused Milwaukee sluggers ripped the big right-hander for six runs and eight of their 13 hits at Los Angeles. Eddie Mathews clouted a three- run homer and Hank Aaron and Denis Menke chipped in with solo blasts to back up lefty Bob Hend- ley's six hit pitching. Drop Out of First The Cincinnati Reds knocked San Francisco out of first place by scoring a comeback 7-4 victory over the Giants on two-run hom ers by Jerry Lynch and Frank Robinson in the eighth inning. Jack Sanford was cruising along with a 3-1 lead when the Reds struck and handed the Giant right hander his first defeat after three straight victories. Marty Keough also homered for Cincinnati while Orlando Cepeda and Tom Haller hit solo blasts for the Giants. The Philadelphia Phillies ended the Mets' four-game winning streak, 8-6; the St. Louis Cardinals downed the Houston Colts, 5-2, and the Pittsburgh Pirates took over first place by blanking the Chi cago Cubs, 2-0, in other NL games Monday night. In the American League, Tom Cheney of the Washington Sena tors pitched a four-hit, 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels and Wayne Causey batted the Kansas City Athletics to a 6-5 triumph over the Detroit Tigers. Rain washed out the Cleveland Indians- Chicago White Sox game. All oth er AL teams were idle. Mets Put Up Fight The Mets didn't surrender to the Phils without , a fight. After wasting an early 3-0 lead, they staged a three-run rally in the ninth before reliever Jack Bald- schun fanned Rod Kanehl with the bases loaded for the final out. It was a typical performance by the Mets, who stranded 12 base runners and committed three er rors. Tony Taylor knocked in three runs for Philadelphia and Frank Thomas hit a two-run hom er for the Mets. . Ray Washburn limited the Colts to seven hits and struck out eight in running his record to 3-0. Bill White and Carl Sawatskl hit solo homers for the Cards, who col lected eight of their 11 hits off loser Ken Johnson. '. The Pirates took advantage of a two-base error by Billy Williams in the sixth inning to beat the Cubs. Earl Francis was nitching a six-hit shutout when his arm tightened in the eighth inning. Bob Veale and Roy Face mopped up to preserve the shutout. SUPER DOGS On A Stick Gat Them at THE DAIRY QUEEN 1144 W. McKenzie's Baldridge Fires No-Hitter To Nip Drain, 4-2 Dennis Baldridge set the Drain Warriors down on a no-hitter Mon day in the Emerald League make up game to give, the McKenzie Eagles a 2-0 conference mark. Despite Baldridge's performance, the Warriors led until the sixth inning when the home team ex ploded for four runs to post a 4-2 triumph. Drain opened the scoring in the top of the second when Roger Rut ledge was hit by the pitcher, and an error on Rod Painter's bunt sent the runners to second and third. Ran Cool then sent a ground er at the McKenzie short-stop. When the ball sailed between the fielder's legs the two lead runners raced home. The Warriors held their 2-0 lead until the bottom of the sixth when the Eagles came to life.
