Hosford of this city spent a few hours in Corvallis visiting their daughter, Judy, student at Oregon State Uni versity and who has just been pledged to Kappa Delta Pi honor ary sorority in education and then went on to Beaverton to spend the . They will spend a few days this week in Portland visiting her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Ma.y Ellen) Show alter, and then return here again later this week to resume their visit at the Holbrook home, while Van Riper is on assignment with the U. S. Army in Alaska. He ex pects to return here In another two weeks. Local News CARNIVAL Arthur (Butch) Elliott, student at Southern Oregon College at Ash land, spent the weekend here visit ing his parents, Mr. and M r s. Bruce Elliott, in Laurelwood. Miss Lolt Williams has resumed her studies at Oregon State Uni versity in Corvallis, following a visit here with her aunt, Mrs. W. E. Hcrcher Sr. Miss Charlene and Miss Party Dent, who attend University of Oregon in Eugene, spent the East er weekend here visiting their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Saar. '. Mr. and Mrs. A. A. St. Onge of this city spent the Easter week end in Coos Bay visiting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Coulver, and family. They plan to visit other relatives and friends a few days before return ing home. . Mrs. Charles V. (Fran) Stanton, wife of the editor of The News Review, who has been critically ill at Mercy Hospital, is reported to be showing slow improvement. She suffered a cerebral hemor rhage, April 4, causing paralysis of the right side and the voice. Though still paralyzed, she is show ing considerable improvement in strength and general condition, it is reported. Mr. and Mrs. Norris Jewell of this city spent the Easter weekend in Eugene visiting relatives. Hawlty Counts and daughter, Sharon, of this city spent Saturday in Eugene on business. Gordon Joelton, student at Uni versity of Oregon, Eugene, spent the Easter weekend here visiting his father, Arthur Joclson. Barry Dawkirts, student at Uni versity of Oregon, spent the East er weekend here visiting his par ents. Mr. and Mrs. Y. P. Daw- kins. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bowman and daughter, Patricia, of Myrtle Point, spent the Easter weekend here visiting Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam E. Jones and family. Donald Brand, high school prin ciple at Florence, spent the week end here visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Brand, in West moreland. Rodney and David McKean have returned to their home in Sacra mento, Calif., following the last 10 days here visiting their father, By ron McKean Mrs. Marie M. Gerty of Eugene spent the weekend in the Rose burg and Sutherlin areas visiting friends. She is a former resident. Her daughter, Mrs. Chris (Meri beth) Olsen, teaches school in Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Shark have returned to tiieir home in Portland, following a visit here with Miss Ethel Webb. Crout of Los Angeles are spending the week in Roscburg visiting the tat ter's Grandparents, Sir. and Mrs. Edwin G Young, on SE Hawthorne Drive Mrs. Crout is the former Christine Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Gerald Young of Los Angeles, forn-.erly of Roscburg. Mr. and Mrs. Larry A. White and children, Ruth Ann and Charles, and Mrs. White's mother. Mrs. Ruth Herman, of Citrus) Heights, Calif., have returned to Roscburg to visit the letter's sis ter, Mrs. Arthur Clarke, and aunt, Mrs. W. H. Richardson. The latter is receiving medical treatment at Mercy Hospital new nursing unit. Mrs. Herman and Mrs. White are former Roseburg residents.
