Mrs. Gent arrived recently from
Redwood City. Calif., for an ex
tended visit with the Whitfords,
who moved to Tiller last fall from
Iowa and purchased the former
Hartley place. Mrs. uent lormer
ly resided in Illinois and came to
California after the death of her
husband.

lovely luncheon for members and
their mothers of Xi Omicron,
Beta bigma Phi, on Saturday. The
committee in charge of the lunch

J'ne 12:30 p.m. luncheon was
served buffet style from a table
covered with a white cloth and
centered by an arrangement of
snowballs and scarlet hawthorne,
flanked by white candles.

Outdoor Circus Presented
By Youngsters At Winston
A special tribute for mothers
was shown by several Winston
youngsters Saturday afternoon
when they entertained for them at
an out-of-door circus on the lawn
of Dr. and Airs. H. L. VanDer
mark in Winston.
The acts, produced and directed
by the group of youngsters, consist
ed of a boxing match between Kd-
die and Teddy Grcnsky with Don
ald Rigney as the clown referee
Steve and Karen Van Permark as
the doctor and nurse attending the
fighters; and a demonstration of a
reducing machine with Steven and
David Van Dermatk participating
CV Grange Men Are Hosts
At Mother's Day Dinner
On Sunday evening, men of the
Camas Valley Grango honored the
women at a Mother s Day dinner.
Ernest Booth had cooked the de
licious ham dinner and was assist
ed by the other granue men. Guy

talk for about one and one half
minutes on "Aly Dream Island."
Toastmistress Alildred Dunn intro
duced Alice Larson who gave a
talk on Japan, and Lois Krug who
reported on the regional meeting
at Coos Bay. Clara Rockwell was
critic and Alice Larson was evalu-
ator.
Decorations were in keeping
with the theme of. the evening.

freshments. The closing thought
was given by Wanda Commons.

A mothers and daughters banquet
was held at the Pine Grove Church
last Friday evening. Mrs. Freta
Karcher was in charge of the in
teresting program that followed the

International Order of Jobs Daugh
ters, were honored Thursday at
6:30 p.m. at the Oakland Alasonic
Temple at a potluck dinner given
in their honor by members of East
ern Star Chapter 91, Oakland.
The secret mother of each Job's
Daughter, was revealed at the din
ner when an Eastern Star mem
ber was seated at the right of
each girl.
Names of girls were drawn at
the beginning of the Eastern Star
year. Names of secret mothers
were not revealed until the din
ner. Escorted and introduced were
Kathryn Roadman, member of The
Pay of Representatives Committee
of The Grand Chapter of Oregon;
and Air. and Airs. Bennie Knyp

The Glendale Chapter of the
Eastern Star met Tuesday night
at the Alasonic Temple.
After the meeting, in recognition
of Mother's and Father's Night,
the chapter was entertained by
Airs. Joe Payne and two of her
piano pupils, Peggy Jo Edson and
Carol Major.
The next meeting will include
election of officers and a memor
ail service.
