The board voted 21 to approve the loan. Governor Mark Hatfield and Secretary of State Howell Appling Jr. approved it over the opposition of State Treasurer Howard Belton. The money will be loaned at! 4's per cent interest and will be Shasta City. Calif., visiting her sister and family. Mrs. W. H. Richardson of this city was called to Portland Fri day by the death of her sister-in-law. Mrs. Luther Hamilton. Mrs. Hamilton was an aunt of Mrs. Ar thur Clarke of this city. Mrs. E. C. Leon Neis Re-elected Chief At Canyonville Leon Neis was re-elected chief of Canyonville's Volunteer Fire De partment at the annual neeting nex room, Students of the Seventh-day A(l ventist School at Canyonville will feature their new hand under the direction of Jim Church at their annual Ihnsunas program to be held 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19. Mr. and! Mrs. Merrier Crooker aro direct-1 ing the program. Canyonville School's annual Christmas program will beam at 7 p m. Dec. 21. and w ill include choruses and band as a background to four tableaux. Bill Johnson will direct the high school band and chorus and the elementary band while various teachers will direct their classes in the elementary chorus. The assembly of God program will begin at 7:30 Christmas eve and will be directed by Mrs. C. J. Brent and the Sunday school teachers. The land board also authorized a grazing permit for the next five years to llynd Brothers Co. on some 8.500 acres of Boardman Space Age Industrial Park in Mor row County. Hynd Brothers now has grazing rights on the land from the Bu reau of Land Management but the state expects to acquire the land in an exchange. When the state gets the land the grazing arrangement will go into effect with llynd Brothers. In New York City another tour was taken which I lasted three days. It included many places of historic interest, I including the United Nations, Ra dio City Music Hall, and a boat trip around Manhattan Island. Re turning home, a stop was made at Niagara Falls with a drive over into Canada. Mrs. Dwight and Mrs. Broderson a re former Garden Valley neighbors, living on the Big Bend Rd. In Ho spit I Mrs. John Sinclair Is confined te the hospital, having had an oper ation on her leg which was broken Thanksgiving Day. Mr. and Mrs. Flmer Goodwin and daughter, Denice, and Mrs. Bethel Norris of Coquille were re cent guests of Mrs. Waller Norris. The visiting Mrs. Norris attended a Riversdale Grange meeting with the Garden Valley Norrises. Mr. and Mrs. lshe Ixmg. who have been residing at the Round Prairie Ranch, have moved into the Ritchie rental. The l.ong were formerly employed at the Ritchie dairy and upon his retirement de cided to return 1o the valley. Mr. and Mrs. John Denton made i recent business trip to Portland.
