Ryals. owners of Junction City Transfer Co., Har risburg, will be transferred Aug. 14 to Glenn A. Chamberlain, Springfield. State Public Utility Commis sioner Jonel C. Hill said the de cision authorizing the transfer re suits from an analysis of records of four separate hearings dating back to Aug. IS, 1960. Rival trucking firms had pro tested the transfer, arguing that Chamberlain had built up the business in an attempt to avoid a restriction in permit authority. Hill said intent to avoid re striction was not proven. He said Ryals hired Chamberlain, a truck er with 27 years experience, af ter an accident made it neces sary to get help. North Portland Livestock Mart Down On All Animals By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Receipts on livestock at the North Portland market were down on all animals this week and pric es were generally steady or strong. A report prepared by Mrs. ' El- vera Horrcll, agricultural econo mist at Oregon State College, said today top prices for cattle came Monday when mostly low and av erage choice 990-1,025 lb. slaugh ter steers brought $24. She said also: Slaughter steers and heifers were mostly steady to strong compared to last week's prices. There were some instances of 25 cents higher prices. Cows closed steady to 50 cents higher, bulls were firm and stockers and feed ers remained steady. . Good and low choice vealcrs closed at $22.00 to $25.00, while trading was generally slow. Pric es held steady. Hog receipts dropped for the week some 200 from the prior week with some weakness evident although the market held mostly steady. No. 1 and 2, 200-220 lb. $20.50 to $20.75. Sows were steady to strong. This was announced Friday in San Francisco by conference spokesmen, who said the Apple Growers Association has refused an eight-cent hourly increase asked by -the 1.400-member local. They said an affiliate, the Western Cannery Council, joined in issuing the conference's pledge.
