ARTHUR SELBY At the last meeting of the Glide School Board, Mrs. Louisa W. Cane was hired to teach the first and second grades at Toketee Falls Elementary School. Supt. Donald Fluke reported four more teachers are needed at Glide Schools. A vocal instructor has not yet been hired to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Da- , vid Oas. The board ' is improving the grounds at the Deer Creek School the work being done by Buckley Bell Co. o Roseburg. Harvays Visited Mr. and Mrs. Jack Harvey and family of Portland were recent guests at the home of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Har vey of Idlcyld Park. The Harvcys spent part of their vacation visiting Harvey's brother a.id sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Harvey in Rose burg, also Harvey's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mis. Children andor .even no charg Ore. Thur., July 13, 1961 Community Mrs. Margaret McDonald of 7S7 NE Alameda, Roseburg, who is a teacher here, has left for Europe on the Music Educators summer tour. The tour will last for 60 days. Miss Donna Dollar, who has been a teacher in Japan this last year for American children of Air Force personnel, is home with her par ents, Roseburg School Superintend ent and Mrs. M. C. Dcller. Mrs. W. Ernott Butler has arriv ed back at her home in the Kohl hagen apartments, following sever al weeks in Tucson, Ariz., with her brother-in-law and sistcr-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Harding, and in Portland attending to business. Mrs. Helen Losli of Richland, Wash., plans to leave Friday for her home after spending a week here with Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Brown. Sunday Brown and Mrs. Leslie enjoyed a trip to Winches ter Bay and surrounding area. Lt. and Mrs. L. W. Riley III and twin sons, Michael and Victor, of Travis Air Force Base, Calif., have arrived hero to visit the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Riley, for a couple of weeks. Mrs. Riley is the former Barbara Docring of this city. Mrs. C. S. Hainlin has returned to her home in Laurclwood, fol lowing two weeks taking a special music course from tho famed Madame Lhevinne, head of Julliard School of Music in New York, at University of California in Berke ey. Mr. Josse has been a pa tient at Douglas Community Hospi tal for the last couple of weeks. Miss Jan Downing of this city has had as her houseguest for sev eral days. Miss Enid Sparks, of Longview, Wash., a former neigh bor here. Miss Sparks is now visit ing Mrs. Albert Marks before re turning to her home. St. Joseph's Altar Society mem bers, their teen age daughters and invited friends are asked to attend the potluck picnic at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (standard time), July 19, at the home of Mrs. Sadie Bat ton on Curry Road. In addition to their food, those attending are asked to bring their table service. Mrs. Hawley Counts has returned to her home on SE Reservoir Ave nue, following a vacation trip to California. She was accompanied south by her daughter, Sharon, who remained in Santa Barbara, Calif., to attend summer school and to visit Miss Sue Durnam, a former resident of this city. Mrs. Counts visited her sister in Sun Jose, Calif., and enjoyed a trip to Disney land before returning home. The seventh annual Brockway School picnic will be held Aug. 6 at the Community P;rk in Winston. This get-together has been held yearly the first Sunday in August since the Centennial reunion 1955. A potluck dinner will be held at 2 p.m. standard time. Coffee will be furnished. All former pu pils and teachers of the old Brock way School and their families are invited to attend and are asked to inform others interested who no longer live in this area. Mrs. Jack DtBernardi and chil dren of Ocean Lake, Ore., have arrived here to visit the childrens' paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. DeBcrnardi Sr., on SE Lane Avenue. They will spend a part of their time on the North Umpqua River. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wilburn and their daughter, Pat, plan to go to Corvallis Saturday to spent: the weekend visiting the Wilburni.' son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Wilburn, and family. They are making the trip especislly to see the William Wilburns' new daughter, Jona Lana, born July 6. They have two other children, Rick and Jeff. Gayl Gorrtsn, who went to Portland July 8 to be flower girl at the wedding of Darla Nan Mun cy and Dennie George Burns, will return here this weekend with her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Moore, of Portland. The Moores will spend the week end here visiting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Motschenbacher, and family. Gayle stayed in Portland with them after the wedding for a week s visit. Mrs. Melissa Mavw left by Northwest Orient Airlines Thurs day out of Portland for New York City, where she will leave with a group of 75 on a tour of Amster dam, Holland, Cologne, Frankfurt and Heidelberg, Germany, Lu cerene, Switzerland, Venice, Flor ence and Rome, Italy, Nice and Paris France and London, England. This will be Mrs. Maves second trip in six years to Europe. The tour will last for three weeks and is made up of members of the Greater Book Club organization. Package Houses MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) A farmer will one day be able to order a package house of a speci fied size with selected equipment to be delivered en a certain date for a guaranteed price. That is what Marvin Pratt, Ta coma, Wash., assistant products application manager for Weyer haeuser Co., told a package plan building session at the University of Idaho. The 30 Western repre sentatives are meeting on the campus through Thursday to ap prove farm building and home plans suitable for construction in the region. - Due For Farms "The package concept of build- ing is here to stay and will no doubt increase its scope to include the farm house, Pratt said. "The package construction will bring entire walls to the building site, including insulation, wiring, plumbing and heating. Openings will be cut into the walls. Wall material and partition material may be manufactured 'by the mile' so that a person can buy 200 feet of outside wall and 600 feet of partition."
