C. aides of Douglas Community Hospital and with the nurses aides from Mercy Hospital as guests. Honors J. C. Aides At Tea One of the largest events of the week took place Friday afternoon, when members of Douglas Com munity Hospital Auxiliary enter tained the J. C. aides from the hospital at the annual tea. Mercy Hospital aides were additional guests at the lovely affair held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Wilder in fturelwood. Mrs. Marjorie Grover, Register ed Nurse, who teaches the aides, was an honored guest. Susan Chit wood and Donna Torkelson, who have been nurses aides at Doug las Community Hospital for the last four years, were special guests of honor. A lovely corsage wa3 presented to Mrs. Grover and to r Miss Elizabeth Randall, dean of girls at Roseburg Senior High School. Mrs. Clvde Chitwood and Miss Randall poured. The beautifully appointed tea table was covered by a hand-crocheted lace cloth and centered with an arrangement of roses flanked by crystal candela bra and tall tapers. Mrs. L. J. Michalek was chair man of the lovely event assisted by Mrs. Roy Byrd. Assisting Mrs. Wilder in serving and about the rooms were Mrs. Kenneth Bailey, Mrs. iFred Stever, Mrs. William McCargar and Mrs. Paul H. Hel weg. Guests included Mrs. James R. Grover, Sutherlin; Mrs. Clyde Chitwood and Miss Elizabeth Ran dall and the following J. C. Mrs. Stone Hostess To Helping Hand Club Helping Hand Club met recently at, the home of Mrs. Marvin Stone on Eden Lane for a 12:30 dessert luncheon. Visiting and games were enjoyed together with a tour of the Stone iris garden. Guests for the afternoon were Mrs. Edward Geary and son. Oth ers present were Uie Mesdames Frank Welch, George Niday, George Schnore, Lillie Quilliams. Martin Ludwig and Robert Caley. Decorations were blue Dutch iris and pink coral bells. The next meeting will be a pot luck at Stewart Park June 16. Evening Party Is Recent Event Mrs. Howard Horton was com plimented Wednesday night at a lovely pink and blue shower given in her honor by Mrs. Gene Chas- teen and Mrs. Roger Recce at the home of the latter. Game prizes were won by Mrs. Haldon Welker, Mrs. Dawn Har ris and the honoree. Refreshments were served after the honored guest had opened her guts. Invited guests were Mrs. Dawn Harris, Mrs. Jim Pinard, Mrs. Glen Curry, Mrs. Don Chasteen, Mrs. Haldon Welker, Mrs. Pat Fish. Mrs. Elwyn Jones. Mrs Dave Argo, Miss Judy Horton and the honoree, Mrs. Horton. Lovely Morning Party Hosted By Mrs. Roth Mrs. Don Roth was a charming hostess when she entertained re cently at her home in Tenmile at a 10 o clock coiiee nour. Present to enjoy the occasion were: Mrs. Julia Enlow, Mrs. Tommy Scigle. Mrs. Hopkins, Mrs. Kate Schosso, Betty Hughes, Jo Baker, Bonnie Martin, Mrs. Ber nard Long. Mrs. Dale Walker, Mrs. Charles Cleveland, Mrs. Vivian Travis and the hostess, Mrs. Rotb. ored on his birthday at the Rose burg Unit of American Contract, Bridge League play Sunday aftr ernoon at the Gold Room of the Umpqua Hotel. A birthday cake furnished by Mrs. L. K. McCUn tock and Mrs. Walter Fisher was cut in honor of the occasion. Five tables of duplicate bridge were in play during the afternoon. Tying for first were Dr. and Mrs. Harris and Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Bevans. Mrs. Edgar Lewis and Mrs. G. W. Marshall were third and Mrs. Lyle Bodenner and Miss Gertrude Kasl were fourth. On June 14 a special events two- session affair will be held by the Unit for teams of four. The play will begin at 1 p.m. in the Gold Room of the Umpqua Hotel. Parties At I -nin Honor Miss Drk Miss Beverly Clark of Drain was honored at a bridal linen show er Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lee Darnall. Miss Carol Clark and Mrs. Dennis Halde man, sisters of the bride-to-be, were co-hostesses. The afternoon was spent in games and visiting. Prizes were won Dy Mrs. Koy Hal- deman, Miss Louise Coe and Miss Rickey Scott. Miss Joanne Cormier was host ess at her home for a miscellane ous bridal shower for Miss Clark Tuesday evening. Besides the girls ol the senior class, Mrs. John Clark and Mrs. Henrietta Skates were guests. Program Given For1 Music Teachers Mrs. Clifford Domas. Mrs. Gene Cooksey and Mrs. Homer W. Grow entertained the Oregon Music Teachers Association for its clos ing spring meeting Friday eve ning at the i irsl Methodist Lhurch parlors. Tho topic. "Public School Mu sic, was presented and Mrs. Cook sey demonstrated the topic by pre senting the Hucrest Kindergarten. Relatives and teachers were in vited as guests. About 70 were present. Dinner Enjoyed At Fred Finster Home Mr. and Mrs. Fred Finster and son, Freddie, entertained as din ner guests Monday evening Mr. and Mrs. Milton A. Palmer and Mrs. Marion Krake all of Dayton, ore. The 1'almers were house- guests of the Finsters during the Keuekah. and 1UUF convention. Mrs. Krake stayed at the Grand Hotel. Additional guests honoring the Dayton visitors were the Hev, and Mrs. Lyle Willard of the North Koseburg Church. After the dinner the Finsters ac companied the Dayton visitors to the armory for the special grand opening affair of the convention. Mrs. B. A. Young Hostess For Club Mrs. B. A. Young entertained her bridge club at a charming 12 o'clock luncheon at her beautiful home in Westmoreland Wednesday afternoon. Rhododendrons and mixed spring blossoms formed a very lovely motif for the occasion. Covers were placed for Mrs. James Aiken and Mrs. Francis Bailey, guests, and Mrs. S. J. Cooper, Mrs. 0. R. Petersen, Mrs. Paul Flood, Mrs. 0. R. Fritz, Mrs. A. D. Parr, Mrs. H. C. Berg and the hostess, Mrs. Young. High scores for. the afternoon's contract bridge play were won by Mrs. Aiken ana Mrs. Bailey. Hucrest Group To Present Exercises This evening. May 22. Mrs. Gene Cooksey will present the Hucrest Kindergarten in its graduation ex ercises and program at the Hu crest gym at 7:30 p.m. All rela tives and friends are most cordial ly invited to attend. The children will wear their centennial cos tumes for the occasion. Portlanders Feted At Family Dinner Sunday Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Kruse en tertained Sunday at a family din ner in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Mer lon Peterson and daughter, Wendy, who were visiting here from Port land for the weekend. Those enjoying the 1:30 dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Don Kruse and Jeff, Dennis and Karen; Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Burkhart and Kathi; Mr. and Mrs. Peterson and Wendy and Mr. and Mrs. Kruse. Invited. but unable to attend because of illness were Mr. and Mrs. John Burkhart and Mr. and Mrs. Neil Christian and Greg, Mark and Dean. Amaranth Social Club Has Potluck Friday The Amaranth Social Club met for a 6:30 p.m. potluck dinner at the Masonic dining room Fri day. Decorations included gay col ored iris. Carmen Clark was head of the decorating committee and was assisted by Mrs. Ldward Ver-rell. Election of officers was held, with the following taking office: Loran O'Neal, president; Mamie O Neil, vice president; secretary treasurer. Nellie Verrcll.
