Thirty girls have signed for the newly organized 4-H sewing club, Sew 'n' Sew. Leaders of the group are Mrs. Wayne Smith and Mrs. Durnin Swingley. Jackie Prairie was elect ed president; AKnes Hendrix, vice president; camilie r.ueison, secre tary; Carmen De Bolt, song leader. and Linda Burden, news reporter. Four boys originally signed up but dropped because they felt some what overwhelmed by the many mrl. This is the first year for H of the members, while the otners are in their second year of sewing, as they had organized early in the summer and completed their first vesr projects prior to the County Fair. Receiving pins and awards for the number of years in 4-H were: Tommy Work, John and Tom Bew ley. Tommy and Jerry Thompson, Harry McMichael, Harlan and Har vey Smith, forestry; Susan Costin, Pete and Virginia Ames, Janice Deeds, Darrell Snyder and Pat Hartson. livestock: Diana Becker, I Marilyn and Margery Smith, sew ing, and Janice Deeds, Lareen Becker, Judy Harwood, Juanita Johnson and Joe Stiger, cooking. Pete Ames received an award for agriculture and Harlan Smith was awarded for forestry. Officers Elected Election of Grange officers was held at the last meeting of the North Douglas Grange. Mrs. Grace Coins and Emily have gone to Ferndale. Wash , for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Berk and family. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Becker and family recently visited Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Drake in Tumalo, where Drake is now teaching. The Drakes taught at Curtin for several years before leaving to Tumalo last sum mer. Move Houses 1 Jim Rice has moved the two houses he purchased from the stale Highway Department from their sites at Curtin to his property on Bear Creek. Word has been received that Donald Word was released from the I Cottage Grove Hospital recently 1 after spending nearly a month j there recovering from an auto ac-i cident. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Lovegren of cottage Grove were recent dinner guests at the J. R. Sowlea home. Winston Family Paid Visit By Son In Army By BRUNETTE WILSON Mr. and Mrs. Jake Stobbe In I Winston are being visited by their son, Sgt. Albert Kiser, who has just returned from three years in France. Kiser also expects to visit his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Reves, in Eugene while on his two-week leave. Mrs. Lee Hopper, sister of Sat. Kiser, was hostess of a homecom ing party, given in her brother's honor. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Brown of Winston accompamid their son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Huttner. of Gold Beach to Ilillshoro recently. While there the family attended a bowling tournament. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Pot have returned from Alaska and visited Mr. and Mrs. K. H. Burgess in Dillard. They are the parents of Mrs. Burgess. The Winston Gay Ladies' Club will hold its Christmas party and politick lunch Dec. 10 at the home of Betty Longtain.
