Mr. and Mrs. Bill Petrowlci and daughters of Redding. Calif., spent the weekend here visiting M r s. Petrowicx' parents. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Higgs. and two sisters. Mrs. Kdwm Myers and Mrs. Robert G. Paige, and their families. Mrs. Tom Lindbloom and Mrs. Edwin Myers went to Corvallis last week for the annual mothers tea at the Pi Phi house. They were the sucsts of their daughters. Carol Lindbloom and Diane Myers. Mrs. Mvers and her daughter were din ner guests at the Phi Sigma Kap pa house. Miss Lindbloom and her mother dined at Cawthorne Hall. Mrs. Gene Hitt of William Lake. Canada, is arriving Sunday for an extended visit with her parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hitt. The former's husband, who is a lieutenant in the l .S. Air Force, will accompany Mrs. Hut as far as McChord AFB by plane, then Mrs. Hitt will drive the rest of the way. Lt. Hitt plns to be in Roseburg for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Don Gieserecht left Roseburg Friday for i vacation trip to Wil lows. Calif., where he will visit relatives. Judy's owner Mrs. Newton B Srope said the black, white and orange puss still succeeded in catcning mice as late as last month, lt was quite a feat be cause Judy had only one tooth left. Judy regularly lived on bone less salmon and chopped pig liv er. She walked with a limp, re sult of a broken leg suffered in a traffic mishap while crossing a road several years ago. Kendall said a rat's normal life span is 6 to 10 years, Judy was 'awarded a citation for longevity two years ago. Noel Bennion, Oregon State .College poultry extension special ist, said here that 11 years ago. the average industrial worker put in 32 minutes on the job to earn enough to purchase a dozen eggs. 28 minutes for a pound of chicken and 29 minutes for a pound of turkey. It had entered his body when he gave a blood transfusion that saved a hospital patient's life. A month after the transfusion the 31-year-old truekdriver slumped dead over his steering wheel. The chief surgeon at the hospi tal said the stiletto, used inside a small tuhe to penetrate the vein for the transfusion, apparently slipped into the bloodstream and eventually reached the heart.
