Save Every Day At City D rive-In Open 9 to 9 WASHINGTON (AP) Criticiz ing the administration's handling of the Formosa crisis, the Dem ocratic Advisory Council says the problem should be submitted to Ihe United Nations. The 24-member council said in a weekend statement that the Ei senhower administration has "led us to the brink of isolation from our allies and to the brink of hav ing to fight a nuclear war inade quately prepared and alone." GOP National Chairman Meade Alcorn took an opposite view, , saying "peace with the Republi- cans, or a possible war," is one of the choices the voters face in the Nov. 4 elections for control : of Congress. He said this and oth er issues have been pointed up by, j Vice President Nixon. ! The Democratic council said i this nation should join others in asking the United Nations for rec ommendations to: Present Aggression "1. Secure and stabilize the ! whole Formosa area in such a I way as to prevent aggression from any source in any direction. I "2. Secure to the neoDle on For mosa the right to determine their own future. The fight between the National ists and Chinese Communists, the I council said, is a problem of long- term relations that cannot be solved immediately. I Meantime a Democratic Con gress, it said, must "see to it that tne orderly processes of govern ment are not replaced by the day I to-day whims of a world-ambulat- ing secretary 'of state, and that policy decisions lacking wide do mestic support and wholly with out Allied support do not bring upon manKina nuclear holo caust. Ihe statements of the Demo cratic council and of GOP Chair man Alcorn had the effect of try ing to label each other's party a war party. Alcorn mentioned the possible war as one oi tnree issues he said i Nixon has mentioned in campaign j speeches. The others are: j "Solvency with the Republicans, ; or likely higher taxes. "Freedom with the Republicans. or probable regimentation under alien conceptions of economics and government.
