Ted Hallock. state coordinator spoke on plans for the Oregon Cen tennial in 1959. Delbert Dickey, Yoncalla's mayor, gave a short talk and introduced the guest speaker. Hallock gave recognition to state and county officers pres ent: state legislator, W. 0. Kelsey; the district attorney from Douglas County, Avery Thompson, and Frank Ashley, also from Douglas County. Offends Fu0rf Ernest Helliwell made thetrip to Redmond, Ore., last week to attend the funeral of his nephew, Frank Daugherty. Daugherty spent sever al years in Yoncalia. George Parks, who suffered compound fracture of his leg and a badly crushed ankle in a woods accident three weeks ago, is recu perating at his home south of Yon calia, Mr. and ilj-s. W. H. Hillyer. of California, are viting' Mrs. Hill yer's sister, Mrs. j)rame, in Hay hurst Valley. Chuck Vian and Sunny Morre field, of Kingsley Field Air Force Base, in Klamath Falls, spent the weekend visiting relatives and friends in Yoncalia. The hoys had spent a short vacation there swimming and tuning. The first Zonta meeting of the season was held Wednesday at the home of Arlene Myers in Garden Valley. Ft members vteie pres ent, so it was decided to postpone most of the business until the next meeting which will be at the Rose burg Woman's clubhouse on Moth er St.. Wednesday, Sept. 24. The dub decided to send t dele gate to the regional conference in Boise, Oct. 23-25. The program for the meeting was in the form of true and false ques tions about various facts of the na ture of Zonta.
