Aug. 20, 1958 The News-Review, Roseburg, 0r. 9 Schedules Set For Douglas County 4-H Clubs Scores of 4-H exhibits and stock entries for the 1958 Douglas Coun ty Fair are due for registration by 6 p.m. today at the Fairgrounds under rules and regulations .gov erning the annual four-day event. The program, sent three weeks ago to 4-H club members through out the county, listed the schedule of events and demonstrations youth will participate in this year.'They were drafted by Frank von Borstel and Miss E. Jane Gates, county extension agents. Among requirements is the fil ing of an up-to-date record book for special events, to be turned in to 4-H offices at the Fairgrounds' today, Von Borstel said. He ex plained this is necessary for en trants to be eligible to receive premium ribbons. Books will oe returned after the fair. The schedule of events at t h e fair applying to 4-H agricultural members follows: Thursday Livestock judging contest and dairy judging contest at 8:30 a.m.; judging of livestock classes from 9:30 to 5 p.m. Friday Swine showmanship contest, 9 a.m.; sheep showman ship contest, 10 a.m.; poultry showmanship contest, 11 a.m.; rab bit showmanship contest, 11:30 a.m.; forest identification contest at 11 a.m.; and demonstrations from 2 to 5 p.m.; beef showman ship contest, 1 p.m.; dairy show manship contest, 2 p.m.; horse manship contest, 3 p.m.; rabbit judging and poultry judging con tests at 4 p.m. Saturday Weigh slock for auc tion, 6 a.m.; tractor driving con test, 9:30 a.m.; crops identifica tion contest for livestock mem bers, 10:30 a.m.; and fat stock auction at 2:30 D m. Sunday Exhibits released at 8 p.m. Home economics club members have been given the following schedule. Thursday Canning contest, 9 a.m.; muffin baking contest, 10 a.m.: cake baking contest U a.m.; and dollar dinner contest (for jun iors and seniors at the same time), 1 p.m. Friday Cookie baking contest 9 a.m.: bread baking contest, 10 a.m.; foods judging and food pres ervation contests at 11 a.m. At 1 p.m. will be demonstrations.
