Mr. and Mrs. Keith E. Carter of Eugene were in Roseburg this wtek attending to business and visiting friends. They formerly made their home here. Mrs. C. Wilson and Loreli Mark well of lloquiam, Wash., are visit ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Al Erskine. Mrs. Wilson and Lore It are sisters of Mrs. Erskine. Mrs. R. E. Crawford left Thurs day for Washington to spend the remainder of the summer visiting relatives, following a week here as the houscguest of Miss Gladys 11. Strong, on SE Main Street. Mr. and Mrs. Gall Benson have had as houseguests recently her mother, Mrs. Jean Crossman. and her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Don Cundic. .and three children, all of'Ruth, New Mrs. R. R. Johnson and children, Allen, Bryan and Eleanor, of Sa lem, and Mrs. Johnson's mother, Mrs. Paul Griffin of Kansas-City. Mo., were recent houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Geddes on Lane Avenue. Dr. and Mrs. James Huddleson o! Portland were luncheon guests Wednesday at -the home of their nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Bernau, and sons, Johnny and Jimmy. Dr. Huddleson is a practising physchiatrist in Port land. Miss Nancy Hibbird and Miss Gail Christensen have returned to their work as nurses at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, following sev eral days visiting the former's par ents. Mr. and Mrs. I. vie Hiboard, on SE Jackson Street. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harper and son, Bob; Mr. and Mrs. James Richmond and sons, James, Doug and Bruce, and Mr. and Mrs. Le land K. Wimberly and daugnier, Leslie, and son, Tommy, enjoyed the weekend at Croft Lake. Wayne Hughes, attorney at law in Ketchikan, Alaska, left Wednes day for Portland and Seattle en route back to his home, following a week here visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick J. Porter, on SE Reservoir Avenue. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Chapman of North Bend, and Mr. and Mrs. M. (l efty) Farmer and son, Rogue, of Portland are expected to -arrive during the weekend to attend the ! Conn family picnic and visit the . women's mother, Mrs. Anna Pe terson. Dr. and Mrs. Gilbert Finlay and family of Evanston, III., are ex pected to arrive here this week to isit the former's parents, Dr. and Mrs. G. C. Finlay; his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. James Finlay, and family, and with his grandfather, B. F. Skinner. Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Wood worth and daughter, Mary Jo, and son, Pete, and niece, Marcia Mc Cray, of Norlh Hollywood, Calif., went to Portland over the week ei.d and brought their daughter, i Sue. back to Roseburg. Sue has been in Seattle visiting her grand mother, Mrs. G. L. Woodworth. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Murray and children. Theresa, Stephen and Cathy, have returned to their home in Westmoreland, following a vacation at Cutler City at the beach at the summer home of Mrs. Mur ray's parents. Mrs. Murray's moth er. Mrs. W. H. Eggcr, was at the beach with them during their vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Hart and family are here visiting rela tives and friends from Burns, Ore. Mrs. Hart is the former Gladys Hart of Ihis cily and is the daugh ter of J. A. Hart of Roseburg. Mr. Hart was employed here by the Roseburg Branch of the U.S. National Bank prior to being trans ferred to Burns. Charley Dotson of Los Angeles left Wednesday, following a con-1 pie of weeks here visiting relatives and friends, wnue nere ne enioy- ed fishing and got some excellent ' catrhes on the North Umpqua Riv-j er. Miss Cheryl, who have been in Portland and then went on to the coast, were joined there this week by Mrs. Ryan and they were houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Groh. Mrs. Lydia Sheridan and Iliram Greeler of Steelville Mo., are in Roseburg visiting tlieir cousin, Mrs. Nora Helias, and at C-ps lllahec visiting their cousin, sirs. Pirry Wright. They will visit a .'oiisin, Pearl Wilson at South Deer Creek and will visit a cousin, Mrs. Marion Wilson in Bandon and tnen so to Crescent City. Calif., and on to Southern California before re turning to their homes in Missouri. They will visit relatives and friends for another month before reaching their homes. At Gladstone they were joined at the SKA camp neeting by a cousin, Harold Mil iar, of LaSierra. Calif., who ac companied them hack to Rosenurg and will take them to the coast and to California. J. F.
