S Linda and Mary Backen, who at tend Oregon State Collega, and Howard Bicken, a student at Uni versity of Oregon, will be home Friday to spend the summer with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Backen Jr. Mrs. Walter Tour, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Krohn and Ricky and Marty Krohn, of Newberg, were here this week for the wedding of the former's granddaughter, Janice Tozer, and Jerry Curry. They stay ed at the home if Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Tozer. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hebard of Eugene were recent visitors in Roseburg at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Decker, and at the sum mer place of the former's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hebard, on the North Umpqua Riv- Mr. and Mrs. David Kesner spent Tuesday attending to business mat ters in Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Germain and 9 year-old son and 8 year-old daughter have moved here from Grants Pass and are residing at 1562 NW Fairmont St. Mr. Ger main is employed by U.S. Plywood. Mrs. Dolly Pemberton and small son, Philip, of this city left Thursday for Eugene to. spend a short time visiting her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sid Kredrickson, -and family. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lee Gibson and sons, 11 and 9, and daughters, 13, 11, 10, 4 and 3, have moved here from Canvonville and are residing at .2585 NE Diamond Lake Blvd. Mr. Gibson is employed by U. S. O'Neil and Son, as low bidder, was award ed the contract of completing the crowning and draining of the foot- ball field by the Riddle school board this week. Their bid was $3,482. Other bids were $4,838.00 by Ed A. Miller, Roseburg; $5,648.55 by G. T. Walk-v er, Canyonville. The board accepted the resigna tions of David Barnhard and Mrs. John Season Jr.. This leaves three vacancies on the high school staff, and one on the elementary staff. Jack Salo, new football coach, and family have arrived in Riddle, and are living in the former Jack Markham home on Third Street. Arizona Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson and children are visiting here from Phoenix, Ariz. Johnson was for merly a teacher in the Riddle schools. The Johnsons are guests at the home of Dr. and Mrs. James W. Jones. In Riddle last week to attend the funeral of Norman Cornelius were his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tomasches ki and children of Oroville, Calif.; son, Eugene Cornelius of San Fran cisco, and a brother-in-law and two sisters of Mrs. Cornelius, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McFarlane, and Gertude Simmons, all of Los An geles. Miss Simmons is remain ing with her sister for a time. Guests this week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Johe Bingham Jr. were Mrs. Bingham's sisters, Mrs. George 11. Satchell and children, of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. W. T. Plummer Jr. of Santa Clara, Calif. Dr. Jerome Disque and daugh ters, arrived Sunday at the home of Dr. Disquc's brother-in-law, Wil liam Strobridge, where the daugh ters will spend the summer with their small cousins. Leslie and Gail Strobridge. Dr. Disque re turned to his home in ban Fran cisco the following day. Californian Here Mrs. E. H. Season arrived this week from Covina, Calif., for a ten day visit at the home of her step son. John A. Season. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jelinek and children took a vacation trip last week going first to New Meadows, Idaho, where they visited Mr. Jel inek's daughter, Mrs. Richard Dar land and family. They came home by way of Walla Walla, Wash., and also visited Mt. Hood. Recent guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Guy were Mrs. L. L. Smith and Mrs. Bert Tea chout of Detroit, Mich., where the Guys also lived at one time. Mrs. R. I. Crawfore left Thurs day for Seattle to spend the sum mer visiting relatives and friends. She has spent the - winter and spring here at the home of Mrs. H. C. Darby on SE Kane Street. Mrs. James Pemberton, who is here from Anchorage, Alaska, at the bam Heaney home, spent Thursday and today in Klamath Falls. She will return here this evening. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Barker of McMinnville were here this week visiting their daughter, Mrs. D. H Jones, and coming especially for the wedding of their granddaugh ter, Janice Tozer, and Jerry Curry. Tom and Jim Demptoy have left for their home in Tacoma, Wash., following a week visiting their un cle, H. H. Hobi, in Roseburg and also at the Hobi summer place at LaKe u tne wooas. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Cornelison have moved to Roseburg from Springfield and are residing at 535 NE Cummins. Mr. Cornelison is employed as a logger for Hale Brothers Logging Co. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle E. Mishler have moved here from -Phoenix, Ariz, and are residing at 2725 W. Gary Ave. Mr. Mishler is employed by tvans product and Mrs. Mish ler is employed as a cashier at the Indian Room. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Shelman and children, Randy and Karen, of Klamath Falls were recent visit ors m Roseburg for three days visiting the former's parents and also visiting Mr. and Airs. Tom Kimbrell. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Odenthal and daughters, Deanne and Susan, of Staylon visited here recently with Mrs. Jack Stone and other friends. (AP) -Of ficiala of the Piper Aircraft Co have cancelled plans to try to break a light plane record in a flight from Denver to Brussels. Max Conrad of Winona, Minn., was scheduled to make the flight in a new-lype J'iper plane, the Comanche. The record try was planned as part of a trip to Pa lermo, Italy. Piper officials said European distributors had arranged for the new plane to be delivered to Pa lermo for an air show June 23.
