OPEN-HOUSE AFFAIR GIVEN AT KELLOGG ON SUNDAY The 75th birthday of Edgar Madi son was observed at an open house affair given at his home in Kellogg Sunday. Dec. 8. His three daughters-in-law, Mrs. Garold Ma dison, Mrs. Gale Madison and Mrs. Grant Madison, were hostesses for the charming occasion. A very attractive and cleverly decorated cake was made by Mrs. Gale Madison as the theme for the party. It was shaped like a violin and was decorated with colored frosting making it much like a real violin. Mr. Madison's hobby is the making of violins. Seventy-three friends, relatives and neighbors called to offer con gratulations, with many others sending lovely cards. MRS. SCONCE GIVES CLUB DESSERT-LUNCHEON The Do-A-Deed Club met Tues day at the home of Mrs. Violet Sconce in West Sutherlin for a one o'clock dessert-luncheon. The room was beautifully decorated in the Christmas motif with Christmas tree. The afternoon was spent visiting and the exchange of gifts was en joyed by Erma Buck, Marybelle Morrison of Roseburg, Leona Elli ott, Eunice Haslam. Jessie Brund age and two grandchildren. They then went to a surprise birthday party in honor of David Compton and PINOCHLE CLUB ENTERTAINED BY MRS. VERDUN BOUCOCK Mrs. Verdun Bourock entertain ed her pinochle club Wednesday evening at her home. The party was also in compliment to Mrs. Floyd Verbeck, who is leaving this month to reside in Oakland, Calif. A pink and silver decor was used. Mrs. Perry Thiele won high score for the evening's card play, with Mrs. Ed Radigan winning the trav eling prize. Cards were followed by a gift exchange, with the group iresenting Mrs. Verbeck with a ovely going-away present.
