Williams Trailer Rentals 6 Jackson Objects To Army Spending On Missile Job SPOKANE W Sen. Henry M. Jackson (D-Wash.) said Wednes day he strongly objects to a re- fiorted Army plan to spend t mi ion dollars or more on antimissile missile projects. "I believe in first things first," he told a reporter. "Our main deterent to Russian aggression is not defensive but offensive weap ons. The United States should eon ccntrate on its missile program rather than on missile killers. "Gen. Maxwell Taylor's pro posal for an antimissile program to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the secretary of defense is pre mature." Gen. Tavlor. Army chief of staff, is reportedly urging the Adminis tration to make an all-out effort to produce an operational anti missile ly 1961 at a cost oi irom 6 to 7 billion dollars. Jackson said that antimissile missiles would have to be 100 per cent perfect to be of any value and claimed no one has prefected a 100 per cent effective defense against missiles. "We must first build up our of- sile program,'1 he said. "We can't afford to dissipate resources on defense. Seed Grower League Hopes To Expand Market PORTLAND 11 The Oregon Seed Growers League Wednesday said it hopes to expand its over seas markets. The league said it is seeking to find how it may be helped by a federal law designed to move sur plus commodities overseas. Market expansion, the league said, will be the main item dis cussed as its annual meeting here Dec. 5-7. League Secretary Rex warren said that expansion of forage grass and legume seed markets in South America, norea ana Japan is "highly promising." The discussion on government assistance will be led by Wallace Rice of Grants Pass, the manager of a Josephine County growers co-op.
