The second game's winning run came on a long fly by Tommy Imphlett which scored Haywood Sullivan. Thai run ended the Beavers' brightest hope. 11 came in the ninth inning of the scheduled seven-inning second game after the two teams were tied, 3-3, from the sixth. Portland led, 3-1, with two Seals out in the bottom of the sixth. Then Uniphlett was hit by one of Bob Anderson's pitches, and scored ahead of Kellerl, who homered. A threat was made by Portland in the top of the ninth when Bob Borkowski was safe on a two-base error and was .sacrificed to third by Danny Baich. He died there as pinchhitter Earl Happ grounded out and Solly Drake fanned. The double defeat put Port land's losing streak at nine. The two teams play again Monday night. The Mounties put together a five-run sixth inning in the night cap. The big blow against Los Angeles was Owen Friend's bases loaded triple. Erv Palica scat tered nine hits in the opener. Jim Marshall led off a three-run out burst in- the eighth with his 11th home run of the season. After four scoreless innings, Sutherlin opened the scoring in the top of the fifth inning as Bill Med- Moore's Title Officially Gone NEW YORK iff Archie Moore, the graybeard light heavyweight champion of the world, is no more. That is, he is no more the light heavyweight champion as of to day. Julius Helfand, chairman of the New York State Athletic Commis sion and newly elected president of the World Championship Com mittee for professional boxing, said no formalities are now neces sary to declare the light heavy weight title vacant. It remains to be seen whether the Committee can make its deci sion stick. It is almost a certainty that Moore, who hasn't defended his title since he knocked out Pompey 13 months ago, will challenge it. He is on record as saying that he is willing lo fight Anthony if he gets a guarantee of $100,000. So far he has had no lakers. After losing two straight games to The Dalles on Friday night. Drain slammed McMinnville pitch ing for a total of 10 hits and their second win of the season oer the Townies and a season's record if 5-4. Drain scored two runs in the top of the first inning on a single bv Dan l.uhy, a walk lo Jenv Craig and a two-run single by Ted Bowen. McMinnville roared back with a single run in their half of the first on a walk and a double to narrow the score to 2-1. A three-run rallv in the third inning by McMinnville gave them a 4-2 lead. Hergan led off the inn ing with a home run followed by two singles and a triple. Drain scored a single run in the fifth inning on a walk to Bowen. a single by Roth and a run-scoring single by Stan Dmoschowsky. Another single run in the reventh inning tied the score for Drain. The older group traveled to Cranls pass on rriday and the smaller group were host to Dillard on Saturday afternoon. The older group, 13 lo 16 year olds, defeated the firairts Pass Cuhs by the score of 8-6. They will play a return game with the same club Wednesday, at 8 p.m. under the lights at the Clendale High School field. The younger team, consisting of boys from 9-12, won a decisive victory over the Little League team from Dillard by the score of 34-5 in a game played at (ilendale on Saturday afternoon. They will meet Dillard on the Dillard dia mond next Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. In addition lo the two teams al ready playing, a practice schedule has been opened for boys between the ages of 9 to 10.
