Visitors on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Kruse were the latter's cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Stevens and Mrs. George j Eckles, all of Coos Bay. i Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Bloom were among a group of local camera club members who took a trip on Sunday. They went as far as Oak ridge on the Willamette Highway I and then up the Santiam and Mc- IKenzie Passes, North Bendari Visit Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Freude and daughter, Karo Lec, of North Bend were business visitors at the Don Kruse home Sunday. Tuesday Kruse went to North Bend to take a load of hay to the Freude ranch. C. O. Burgess and son, Bobby, and Jack Uirich recently spent a week at Empire where they fish ed. Mrs. Ulrich spent the time in LEGAL Eugene visiting her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Holm quist, and family. At Laka Mr. and Mrs. Dick Stark and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mobley have gone for several days of camping and water sports at Lake of the Woods. The three Stark children will remain home with their grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Stark. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Holley and daughters. Karen and Marsha. have returned to their home after a vacation at their cabin at Cres cent Lake. W. E. Ott, accompanied by Nor man Hyde, spent a day last week at the coast where they crab fished. Another Gianr Explosion Observed On Sun's Face ROME W Another giant ex plosion on the face of the sun was observed Wednesday. Scientists described it as "one of the most powerful ever seen." The Swedish-operated observa tory on the Isle of Capri noted the explosion at 8:22 a.m. and immediately flashed word to the European headquarters of the In ternational Geophysical Year in Holland. This was the latest in a series of solar explosions which began June 28. The sun flares are bom barding the earth with magnetic hurricanes and electric storms, creating widespread radio black outs. The Capri scientists said the first effects of the sun blast will be felt before dawn Thursday (7 p.m. PST Wednesday night). Prath have returned from a three-week trip with their son, Jack, and his wife and twin daughters. The trip took them as far east as Washington, D. C. En route, they visited with Mrs. D. R. Hall, the former Kay Boxx, granddaugh ter of the elder La Praths, at Ar lington, Va. They spent three days sight-see- Dale E. Wynn Receives OSC Chorus Recognition Dale E. Wynn of Roseburg, a junior with a major in science at Oregon State College, has re ccived recognition for music achievements at the college. He has been named one of S3 Winners of choral awards, given annually to students who have per formed for two years or more with the college chorus.
