Fri., June 21, 1957 Greet Minister es met this week to make plans for welcoming the new minister, Rev. John Ginter. Chairmen of the education, fi nance, missions and evangelism commissions of both churches will meet with the Kev. Mr. Ginter June 24 at 8 p.m. at the Wilbur church to plan future activities. Tho Wilbur Sunday school closed its "fishing" contest last Sunday, and prizes were given for bringing the most visitors to Sunday school in the last six weeks. Brick Wood ward received tho Bible given as first prize, and Mary l.ou Starky won the New Testament for second place. WALKER , . . new Methodist minister New Minister For Diilard-Winston Methodist Church The Rev. Mr. William O. Walker has been appointed to the Dillard Winston Methodist Church. Bishop A. Raymond Grant read the appointment at the meeting of tho Oregon annual conference in Corvallis last week. The Hev. Mr. Walker received his theological education at Boston University School of Theology. Ho formerly made his home in Mod ford, and graduated from the Uni versity of Oregon in ISM. Tho Rev. and Mrs. Walker will make their home in Dillard at the Methodist parsonage. Oakland Church Plans Service For Children The Oakland Community Presby terian Church vacation Bible school will be concluded Sunday morning after Sunday school, and Hie annual children s day service will bo Held at 11 a.m. The program will be open to the public and will consist of many of the features of the program of the vacation school itself. At this serv ice, an opportunity will be given for the baptism of small children and for church membership. A picnic dinner for tho school will be held at the parish house Kriday at 11:30 a.m., with all tho children who enrolled in the vacation school and their leaders attending. The school had an unusually large enrollment this year, reports corre spondent Kditle Dunn. Elkton Church Holds Fellowship Inler-church fellowship was held at tho Elkton Methodist Church this week. Mrs. Edith Weatheiiy was in charge of the social part of the evening, and Mrs. Hetty (irimsrud and Mrs. Mary lleckley sang a duet accompanied by l.ucile (loil ding, who also played several pi ano numbers. A spelldown was held on Bible questions, and the Methodist ladies served refreshemtns, reports cor respondent Ariel Hubbard. Christian Church Juniors Hear Report From India Tho junior division of the l'irst Christian Church heard Peggy Williams speak on India recently. Miss Williams was dressed in na tive costume and talked en Indian costumes and traditions. She dis played several items from India. lioruihy Itlancbard brought the devotional thought on the subject of courage, and prayer for tho sick was given by Veloris Haxter. The missionary report was given by Vil dean Hridges. who told about the nnssonary work earned on in Libe ria by Naydnc Hicks.
