Mr. and Mrs. Lao Monahan have returned to their home in the Oak Hill apartments following several days in San Francisco. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Wharton of this city spent the weekend in Sa lem visiting their son and daughter-in-law, Air. and Airs. G. W. Wharton, aln also enjoyed a trip into Portland for the Kose Festival. Jim King, who is on leave from the Navy and is here visiting his mother, Mrs. Edwin Barnes, spent several days this week visiting in Albany and Jefferson and also vis ited in Sulherlin with his sister, Airs. Jim Hunter, and family. Mrs. Paul K. Ryan and daughter, Aliss Cheryl, of this city spent the last week in Portland on business and were joined there recently by Air. Kyan, who brought them back (o Roseburg via the coast route with a stop over in Nclscott to visit friends. Mrs. Sarah Patarson of Spokane, Wash., is spending two weeks vaca tioning with her mother, Mrs. Olie Harris, and her aunt, Mrs. Kosa 3 learn, who reside on Garden Val ley Blvd. Airs. Peteraon is a sister of Cecil Harris, owner of the Harris Supply and Heating. Charles Marrill has returned to Norton Air Force in San Ber nardino, Calif., following his 30 day leave spent visiting his mother, Airs. Bernice Morrill. Airs. Mer rill and Charles visited at Sweet Home, Corvallis, Jledford and Klamath Falls. Mrs. J. F. Bliss, and daughter, Vicky, accompanied i them to Klamalh Falls and Aled- ford. Mrs. N. E. Richardson has re turned to her home in this city, following an enjoyable month's va cation in California visiting rela tives and friends in Hawthorne, Hollywood and Los Angeles. She made a trip to Palm Springs and Indio. While in California, she at tended Cinerama Holiday and en joyed attending a Lawrence Wclk program. Misa Daphne Hughas of New York City, who is executive sec retary of the youth consultation service of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark, N. J. has arrived in Itoscburg to visit her parents, Mr. and Airs. Washington Hughes Air. and Airs. Hughes are moving this week from SE Alain Street to their newly completed home on SE Kane Street. Aliss Hughes will attend the 1927 class reunion to he held here June 29. She plans to re turn to New York July . Mr. and Mrs. Don Beebe have returned to their home here, fol lowing a two and a half weeks va cation trip by automobile to Fred eric. Wis., to visit the former's uncle, and aunt, Air. and Mrs. Wil liam Struck, with whom ho former ly made his home, and then going to Grantsburg, Wis. to visit Mrs. Heebee's parents, Air. and Airs. Glenn Alack and her brothers and sisters. En route home they visited relatives and friends in Montana and North Dakota on the trip. Airs. Kecbe is employed at Clark's Stu dio and Mr. Heehee is employed by California Pacific Utilities. Mr. and Mrt. (.eland K. Walter Lake has returned to his home in Berkeley, Calif., following a visit here with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bonher, and family. Ha is an uncle of Airs. Booher. Mrs. Jack King of Brookings came to Ituscburg by plane this week to spend several days visiting her grandmother, Airs. Caroline Booher, who is reported to be crit ically ill following a recent stroke of paralysis. Alice Hamilton and Kathy Konn ey of this city left Thursday for California. The former will visit her brother. Keith Hamilton, and family, in North Highlands, Calif. Kathy will visit in Los Angeles. They plan to be gone about two weeks. The Rev. and Mrs. Ellsworth Tilron and two daughters and the former's mother. Airs. Lydia Til ton, left Koseburg this week for Moscow, Idaho, to make their home. The Kev. Air. Tillon has been pastor here of the First .Methodist Church for the last several years. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hobart of Union, N. J. have arrived here by plane to visit at the home of Aliss Bess and Aliss Jane Wharton. The iloharts are cousins of Aliss Bess and Aliss Jane Wharton and C. W., George and J. K. Wharton of this city. They spent a week in san rrancisco prior to coming to Koseburg. Clara Patrick of Berkeley, Cal ifornia arrived in Ituscburg this week to visit her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Spencer, and another sister, .Mini Meredith, as well as other rela tives and friends. She is also enjoy ing a few days at the coast and will return here to continue her vacation. Mist Sherry Varbeck returned home for the weekend, accom panying her uncle and aunt, Air. and Airs. Neil Verbeck of Crescent City, Calif , with whom she has been visiting since her graduation from high school. Don Nicklason and his fiancee, Miss Rosemary Forrest, visited during the week with the former's parents in Tenmile and with Miss Forrest's parents, Air. and Airs. Glenn Forrest in Green. Mr. and Mrt. Frank Anderson of Coos Bay made the plane trip here during the weekend to see Mr. and Airs. Earl Oderkirk. The four then traveled together to Alc Alinnville where they visited with Odcrkirk's parents. Air. and Airs. A. It. Oderkirk. The Earl Oder kirks then went on to Portland to see the Kose Festival and visited with Air. and Airs. Bill Stafford. Mr. and Mrs. Guv Waaner. Afrs. i I.eo Kremer and Miss Marlene Daniels, all of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., have left following a visit here with the women's cousin, Airs. Ileber Peifler, and Air. Peiffcr at the Central Trailer. This was the I'ennsylvanians' first visit to the West Coast and they enjoyed local scenic spots. Before returning home they expected to visit Los Angeles, Ueno, Grand Canyon and New Alexico. Jackie Brown, Gloria Fordhain, Beverly Ann Myers, Lee Ann Nor ris, Lynne Erickson, Darlene Hurd, Gayle Harris, Gari Emmctt, Haina and Sherrill Chapman, Cynthia Eastman, Brian Pargeter and George Yost were those from Rose burg who left Sunday for the Senior High Presbyterian Conference at Camp AlcLoughlin at Lake o' the Woods near Klamath Falls. They will stay a week at the camp which draws participants from all of Southern Oregon. CALENDAR Of EVENTS Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Hill, Airs. Nettie Alyers and Gary, Donna Lee and Linda Hill traveled to Eugene Sunday at which time they attend ed the open house held by the Ore gon Leather Co. Dr. and Mrs. B. R. Shoemaker and Airs. Bert Shoemaker and sons, Jack and David, went to Portland last week to enjoy the Rose Fes tival. Mrs. Bert Shoemaker visited her mother, Mrs. Leora Richards, during her stay. Lloyd Hill and Joe Campbel spent Sunday fishing at various lakes on the coast. j Mr. and Mrs. Harold Glover and children traveled to Boring during: I the weekend to visit the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Glov er. They also went to Portland to see the rose parade and air show, returning home Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Norton and children, Kerry and .Margaret, and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hicks and children, Scott, Laurie and Jeff, traveled to Winchester Bay Sunday to enjoy fishing and picnicking facilities. I Business Women To Plan Dances For Timber Days The Associated Business Wom en's Club of Sutherlin will be in charge of the queens ball and mod ern dances for the Timber Days celebration. A float was discussed and the Melodv decision was made, with Delores Hershberger as chairman. Phyllis Candeleria won the box of canned goods and the money raised will be used for club pur poses. After the meeting closed, a so cial hour of games was held, and six Fuchsia plants were awarded the winners.
