Rev. Mr. David Siemens will be general director of the school and also lead in all devotional exer cises. Leaders of other groups will be: Barbara Austin, nursery; Mrs. J. B. Nuckolls, kindergarten; Mrs. Joyce Mitchell, primary; Mrs. Lucille Coble, first grade; Mrs. Mary Winters, second grade; Mrs. Margery Fox. third grade and Mrs. David Siemens, fourth, fifth, sixth grades. Mrs. Eugene Legg will be secretary, and Mrs. Ralph Sherwood and Mrs. Alden Terrel assisting. All children in the Green com munity are invited to participate in the Bible school event, reports corresponaent Mary weikum. First Christian Vacation Bible I School To Start j Daily vacation Bible school will begin at the First Christian I Church Monday at 9 a.m. The theme this year is "Pioneering with Christ." All children four years of age and up through junior high are in vited to attend. The mornings will be spent in singing, studying, rec reation and handcrafts. The hand icrafts will consist of making ce ramics, wood working articles, i camp fire stoves, and other things pertaining to pioneer life. ! Transportation to the school can I be arranged by calling the church office, OR 3-4424. The sessions will close at 11 :4S a.m. each day. The Bible school program will be given June 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the church, when a display of all handcrafts and a program will be presented to par ents and interested persons. Mrs. Newell Morgan will be gen eral superintendent of the school. Junior Academy Stages Investiture Services A specil investiture service con ducted in the Roseburg Junior , Academy last weekend conferred special honor to students for their work in the progressive class work of the Missionary Volun teers. Pathfinder Dept. Elder Don Gray, as a master guide in the organization, present- ea vocational nonor tokens, read ing club certificates, and class pina to the group, and Otlis Ed wards, principal of the school, was invested as a master guide. ' The progressive class work cor responds with the boy and girl scoui movement. Baptists' Budget Oversubscribed PHILADELPHIA UP, The Americsn Baptist Convention was told Friday its membership had oversubscribed its 195ft budgetary ! goal of eight million dollars by $739,000. In announcing the figures the Rev. Dr. Ralph M. Johnson, gen eral director of the Council of Missionary Co-operation, said the convention should accept a higher goal this year. In another announcement Fri day, the Rev. Dr. M. Forest Ash brook, executive director of the Ministers and Missionaries Bene fit Board, said the convention will offer a pension plan for its lay workers for the first time in its 30-year history. The plan, which will provide lay workers of churches, boards and other agencies with retire ment benefits in the event of dis ability or old age, will be intiated with a 12' per cent assessment of the employe's salary.
