He was injured when he fell from his motorcycle as it went out of control on West Melrose Road. Jerry Hill, who was riding with him, was not hurt. Tandy returned home after treat ment that evening. Weekend Here Mr. and Mrs. Carl Simpson of Pasadena were weekend guests of his mother, Mrs. Pearl Folden, and also visited in the home of his brother, Floyd Simpson, and wife. Nonpariel Community Club Meets At School Open house was held Wednes day night when the, Nonpariel Community Club met at the Non pariel School with Mrs.-Flora Tay lor presiding. i National Education Week was observed and each teacher had her room open so that parents might see what progress their children were making. The first grade pupils under the direction of Mrs. Ruby Holloway had charge of the program and the room mothers furnished refresh ments. He was assisted in packing the animal out by Har old Parker, Frank Bell and Ted Reece. H. G. Van Sickle of Portland was visiting and attending business in the Melrose area Tuesday after noon. He is with the Nash Supply Co. which deals in poultry equip ment. C. F. Wulff has returned to his work with- the county road depart ment after- several days illness at his home on Criscr Road. Mrs. I. C. Smith reports that she has gladioli, dahalins and East er Lillics blooming in her yard on Cleveland Hill Road. Mr. and Mrs. James Lousignont and two children moved during the weekend from the Freeman Wil liams house to the Scott rental, the old Crane place on River Road. Visiting for a time with her cousin, MrsT Pearl Folden, is Mrs. Myrtle Thompson of Michigan City, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. K. L. Conn have been improving the interior of their home, including new floors and walls in several downstairs rooms. A cement patio was added on the exterior. Miss Sheryl Kay Reece spent the weekend with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Reece while her mother was recovering from an attack of the flu. f I '1 II I I. The ladies cleaned the new Sun day school house that the church has bought, and which adjoins the parsonage. At noon 11 members and six .children had a sack lunch. . The business meeting was called to order after the lunch with de votionals by Mrs. Buckncl, who read from the Bible Elhesians 1, 18; John 4, 37-38, and from Psalms. The mission council will be held Thursday, Nov. 29, with a planned potluck dinner. All interested per sons are to call 3386 for instruc tions on what to bring. Person, acting assistant chief of engineers for civil works, U. S. Army, and R. E. Mcrriam, assist ant director. Bureau of Budget. The two will address the 23d annual convention of the Inland Empire Waterways Assn. at Yak- j ima Tuosday, Nov. 27. They will leave later that day I for Pasco to fly over McNary Dam and motor to Ice Harbor Dam. I Wednesday flights will be made over sites of proposed dams on the Clcarsvater and middle and lower Snake Rivers and over Grand Coulee Dam and a visit be made to Oinak. A motor trip will be made to Chief Joseph Dam and a flight to Eugene, Ore., for visits to dam sites in the Willamette Valley Thursday. Friday visits will, be made to the Eagle Gorge Dam site and the Mud Mountain Dam in Western Washington. Alert Basis For Ships , Announced By Canada VICTORIA, B.C. 11 An "alert" basis for ships of the Pacific Com mand was announced Tuesday by the Royal Canadian Navy. All leaves, except for overnight, have been suspended. On leaving ship, crew members must leave telephone number where they can be reached. Most ships are on a oasis of readiness to put to sea on four hours' notke. The navy gave no reason for the action. It is believed due, how ever, to the Suez crisis. Williams. poetry and prayers.
