Reizen- stcin of this city is reported to be slowly, but steadily, improving at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene, wnere sne recently underwent sur gery on her hip. Mr. Reizenstein went to Eugene to visit her this past weekend. Reported Doing Nicely Ac cording to word received here Judge Walter Tooze, who has been a medtcal patient at Salem Mem orial Hospital in Salem for the last 10 days, is reported to be steadily improving. He is a brother of Mrs. Walter Fisher of this city. Vacationing Miss Carol Mc Kee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paulus McKee of this city, is spend-! ing several weeks vacationing at! In Yakima William Oerding of this city took the plane last week for Yakima to see his son play with the Roseburg baseball team. He remained over there for the game tonight. Visit Over Weekend Mr. and Mrs. Caleo Salee and children, Ralph, Ronda and Caleo, visited over the weekend with the for mer's uncle, James Sallee, in Gold Beach and with Mrs. Sallee's fath er, Walter Whelden, at Medford. Return From Ashland Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cummins are back at their home on SE Reservoir Ave nue, following a few days in Ash land, where they attended two Shakespearean Festival plays, "Cymbeline" and "Romeo And Ju liet." Visiting From Tacoma Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Chapman of Ta coma are visiting the letter's sis ters, Mrs. H. D. McKay, Mrs. George Short and Mrs. Kenneth Quine. and with her brothers, Ray and Albert Brown, and their fam ilies. Back At Work Vondis Miller Jr., who has been at Fort Lewis, Wash., at summer camp and who spent the last couple of days here visiting his parents, left Sunday for his work with the Forest Serv ice at Lake Oiiell, where he will remain until resuming his studies at University of Oregon this fall. Leave For Oklahoma Mr. and Mrs. Walter Coram, who have been living at Green, and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Coram, who have been living on Mill Street in Roseburg, have left for their homes in Arnett, Okla., after spending the last several months here. Return Home Douglas County Commissioner and Mrs. William T. Evans Jr., of Roseburg attend ed the baseball game in Yakima Saturday and then joined Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bodin and Mr. and Mrs. L. E. llenningpr of this city in Portland, where the group cele brated Mrs. Bodin's birthday at a dinner at Ye Old Country Inn. Pick Up Sor Mr. and Mrs. K. V. Lorenzen and son, Mike, went to Portland over the weekend to meet and bring back their son, Eddie, who has been spending the summer visiting relatives in North Dakota. They were also accompan ied home by their daughter, Leola. who had spent the weekend visit ing in Portland. Return To Medford Mr. and Mrs. Owen Walker have returned to their home in Medford, following several days here on business and visiting the latter's brother, E. C. Patterson, and sister, Mrs. F. S. Criteser. Friday, Mrs. Walker and M rs. Criteser visited in Eugene with another sister, Mrs. Lcs Or chard. The Walkers formerly re sided here. Mr. Walker is with The Kemper-Thomas Co., adver tising firm. Blue Star Mothers7 Prexy Entertained The stale president of the Blue Star Mothers and three of her of ficers were entertained recently by Chapter 6 members. President Mrs. Betty Simons dis cussed the projects and purposes of the organization. The Grants Pass woman was accompanied by Mrs. Rulh Harmon, financial sec retary; Mrs. Ardena Kretschman, fourth vice president and Mrs. Francis Wilson, recording secre tary, all of Grants Pass. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Ksther Hackney, Chapter 6 president, reports cor respondent Mrs. Arthur Selby. At the close of the session, co hostesses Mrs. Eva Wade and Mrs. Orpha Stedman assisted M r s. Hackney in serving refreshments. Earlier the same day, the visitors were taken on a tour of the North Umpqua area, and entertained at dinner at the Bed Barn. No Medical Examinations Slated In Glide District Wayne Schermerhorn. principal of Glide Elementary School, re ports to parents of first grade stu dents at Glide, Deer Creek and Tokelce Falls grade schools, that no medical examination will be available for these students this fall. The Douglas County Medical So ciety will not support pre-school clinics, he said. Private examina tions by the students' family phy sician must be made to secure the certificates required for regis tration. Registration of first graders will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5. starl ing at 9 a.m. A county Valth nurse will be present to assist in check ing the health certificates, but not as an official, Schermerhorn re ported.
