Noels Take First In Mixed Doubles Eunice and Ron Noel rolled their way into first place during Tues day night mixed doubles at the Roseburg Bowling Alley with a combined score of 1.133. Bonnie and Bob Harrison cop ped second place with 1,089, Lu cille and Barney Shephard took DUST OILING Call Ui For Estimates Roseburg Fuel Oil Service Phone OR 3-8155 third with 1,083, Mary Circle and jDon Nye captured fourth on 1,079 and Fern and Bob Spear gained 'fifth payoff spot on a 1,078 total. ! Bonnie Harrison racked the ma ples for a 507 count to lead the lady rollers. She chalked up games of 202, 138 and 167. Barney Shephard and Chuck Hopkins shared high individual game honors for the night. Both men dumped the pins for a 224 effort. Hopkins gained high series honors for the session with a 606 count. His other games were 213 and 169. Other high shooters for the nisht were Bob Spear with 201 and Don Nye with 202. Wildlife Division Created Under Bill WASHINGTON I The Senate Friday passed a compromise bill creating a new fish and wildlife division within the Interior De partment. The unit has been the Fish and Wildlife Service. The measure, a combination of House and Senate bills, provides greater recognition of both the fishery and wildlife activities of the federal government by crea tion of an assistant secretary of the interior for fish and wildlife. Under the assistant secretary there will be a commissioner for fish and wildlife. The measure then sets up two separate agen cies, each with the status of a bureau administered by a di rector. These bureaus will be the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife and the Bureau of Com mercial Fisheries. The compromise also . provides for indefinite continuance of the three million dollars a year fish ery research and market develop ment program now scheduled to expire June, 1957, and sets up a ten million dollar revolving fund for loans to fishermen. I Coach Cur ly Lambeau sent his College All Stars through their first scrim mage and saw his offense, led by All Americas Hopalong Cassady and Earl Morrall, stopped cold. , The collegians, pointing for their Aug. 10 date with the Cleveland Browns, National Football League champion, wound up their 12th day of practice with a defense dominated 30-minute scrimmage. The All-Stars put up a formida ble backfield with Morrall, the for mer Michigan State quarterback; halfbacks Cassady of Ohio State and Don Mcllhenny of Southern Methodist; and Notre Dame's Don Schaefer at fullback. But that foursome and other out standing collegians hardly dented the defenders sparked by Mary land's Bob Pellegrini, Tony Sardis co of Tuland and Preston Carpen ter, the defensive back from Ar kansas. "Silent Joe". Childress, Auburn's fullback, and Hal Burnine, the 195S NCAA pass receiving champion from Missouri, made the only ap preciable gains for the offensive unit. Childress, voted the collegian most likely to succeed in pro foot ball after last year's Senior Bowl game, smashed the middle of the defense's bulky line for a 10-yard gain. Burnine took at 10-yard pass from Morrall. Hampton Poole former Los An geles Ram coach worked the backfield and ends on a series of running and passing plays before the scrimmage. Morrall, Jerry Reichow of Iowa and Navy's George Welsh flipped long and-short passes to halfbacks and ends. Burnine, Army's Don Holleder, Larry Ross, the 6-5 end from Denver, and All America Ron Beagle of Navy impressed ob servers with their sharp pass re ception. Saxton-Basilio Go Set In September NEW YORK ui The New York State Boxing Commission has given world welterweight champion Johnny Saxton the go ahead and so he'll give Carmen Basilio a chance to reclaim the crown in Syracuse Sept. 12 or 19. : Saxton, who lifted the title from ; Carmen in Chicago by decision' last March 14, previously had been banned in New York State i since the commission headed by Julius Helfand had refused to li cense his manager, Frank (Blinky) Palermo, The ban was lifted when Helfand decided it was preventing Basilio from try ing to re-win the title. Saxton, 26, was allowed to set up the fight by himself, although Helfand in the past has criticized such arrangements.
