Baeher and son, Bryce, moved last week end from Eugene to Grants Pass ; where Mr. and -Mrs. Bacher will begin their teaching duties in the Grants Pass schools. The Bachcrs have been attending the University of Oregon and recently purchased a new home in Grants Pass. Mrs. Margaret Adair has return ed to her home in Brockway after a three-week stay in Portland with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Adair Jr., and fam ily. ' Canyonville Couple Attends Gladioli Parade In Grants Pass By VIRGINIA PROCTOR Mr. and Mrs. Loson Winn wit nessed the first Gladioli Show par ade of row boat floats, depicting the history of Josephine County, held Saturday evening on the R nui in imuap at Via tarlr in Hpanle I Pass. According to Mrs. Winn, both lighting, design and the slow mo tion of the boats made the spec tacle impressive. Attend Ice Show Mr. and Mrs. George Aker Sr., and grandson, George 111 of Til ler, attended the ice show in Port land over the weekend. Also attending the ice show was Florette McGee who flew to Port land to visit her sister, Mrs. Ted Lucas, last weekend. She will also visit at the beach at Gearhart. Kay Ferguson and her friend, Danette Knowles of Coos Bay, hop ped a plane for the first time last week, bound for Coos Bay. Miss Ferguson will be a guest of the Knowles family there for two weeks. Miss Knowles has been a guest of the Ferguson family in Canyonville. Ted Nimmo took a vacation from his police duties Monday to run the city grader in the Anerson ad dition. Clifford Beals took his place on the city police beat. The George Shambrook family Canyonville Postmaster Hosts Training Conference By VIRGINIA PROCTOR Al Bogaard of Portland, assist ant regional training officer, in structed a leader training confer ence for second and third class Dostmasters at Canyonville Satur- day afternoon with Norman Han son of that city as host postmaster. Postmasters in the area attend- i ing the conference included Bud ' Porter, Tiller; Mrs. Fritz Snyder, Days Creek; Mrs. Asa Lawson, I Riddle Brian Dieckman, Myrtle Creek; Mrs. Burt, Winston; Park er, Oakland and Bugh, Wecoma Beach. A barbecue in the Hanson's yard ' followed the conference. Mrs. Han son and Fritz Snyder were chefs. Official Visitor Ethel Gibbs, pre'sident of the Re bekah Assembly of Oregon, will make her official visit to Bertha Rebekah Lodge No. 188 of Canvon ville Friday at the IOOF Hall. School of instruction will be held at 3 p.m. and lodge will be in ses ' sion in the evening. The Rebekah district convention will be held in Roseburg next I Tuesday with Mrs. Gibbs attend ing. Mrs. John Hamlin returned to her poat in Hamlin's market early this week following a bout with the flu which confined her to her home for several days. Mrs. Aaron Rothman, night nurse at Forest Glen Hospital, drove to Costa Mesa, Calif., this week to pick up her husband who has been attending summer school at the college there. Rothman will return to Canyonville Bible Acad emy where he is an instructor. Mrs. Florence Miner is back at her desk in the Forest Glen clinic office after two week's vacation in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hamlin spent Sunday flying to Crescent City in Hamlin's airplane. The Howard Haymes family left Monday for Springfield, Mo., where they wilt spend August visit ing relatives. Mrs. Don Putman and three chil dren of Bakersfield are visiting Mrs. Putman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Stonehocker, this week. They will be joined by Putman this weekend and following anoth er week's visit will return home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sullivan Umpqua State bank in Canyonville, according to Oscar Hoverson, cash ier. Parmenter, who plans to move to Canyonville with his family shortly, will start his new position in a few weeks, Hoverson said. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gaman recent ly moved to Vancouver, Wash. News of Mrs. Beulah Mault and family, former Canyonville resi dents, was received here this week from Mr. and Mrs. John Terry who with their children visited Mrs. Mault at her home in Central Point Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hobson, the former Rosaleen Mault, and their three children. Central Point, in vited Patsy and Roy Mault, niece and nephew of the Terrys, to visit them for two weeks and this visit was the inspiration for the family get-together. Miss Joyce Mault is in nurse's training at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene, and has just concluded three months special training in the mental ward of the slate hospi tal at Salem. The D. W. Gills and the Oscar Hoversons spent the weekend fish ing al Diamond Lake and returned by way of Klamath Falls where they visited friends. Mrs. Alice Wheeler of Days Creek was a recent houseguest of the Elmer Stanleys during a re cent illness. Mrs. Wheeler is now staying at the home of her daugh ter and family, the Pete 'Martins of Grants Pass. Glendale Library Hours Announced The Glendale library, now a part oi me county jiurary system, re opened recently after being clos ed for two weeks while Mrs. El len Harris, librarian, was out of I own, the library will be open from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Parents are asked to sign cards for all users, under 14 years of t age. Cards will be good at any j library in the county system. No ! charge, will be made for overdue ; books, but users are asked to re l turn books promptly so that other patrons may borrow them. Mrs. Harris announced that the library now has a set of ency clopedia, hobby books and books j on activities, as well as a number 1 of pre-school books and books for younger children. Further improvements planned I for the library include better lighting and a bulletin board. Mrs. Harris states that if a patron wish es to borrow a book which is not I can be filled out, and the book 1 will be obtained either from the central Roseburg library or from j the state library.
