Mrs. Katherine Howard, a spe cial advisor to the administrator. said this week that the next pub lic opinion poll conducted lor the agency by the University of Mich igan will include a question to sound out the views of both men and women on the subject. One Oregon Delegate To Demo Meet Changed WASHINGTON Wl Walter H. Dodd, a delegate to the Demo cratic National Convention and an aide to Sen. Neuberger D-Ore), this week appointed a former mayor of Cottage Grove, Ore., as his alternate delegate. Joe S. Crepeau, the former mayor, headed Sen. Neuberger's campaign in southern Lane Coun ty two years ago. Dodd, a resident of Cottage Grove, announced the appointment here. H. Baldock an nounced Friday. He explained that the white lines 'fade more rapidly and that apparently, uregon residents like the yellow lines better. Oregon changed from yellow to white in October, 1954, in order to conform with most other states. Fresh white lines are slightly more visible, BaidoeK said. The hishwav department feels he said, that the yellow line should be used in the interest of safety and economy, particularly be cause of the winter conditions in Oregon. Red Newspaper Praises Marilyn's Wedding BERLIN I East Germany's Communist youth newspaper praised Movie Actress Marilyn Monroe this week for marrying playwright Arthur Miller. The paper, Junge Welt, said she deserved a tribute because she "risked" marrying him shortly after the House Un-American Ac tivities Committee questioned him about alleged past Communist as sociations. The paper also praised Miss Monroe for her interest in "class, ical Russian literature," which it called her favorite hobby. The tribute, accompanied by a large picture of Miss Monroe, was unusual for the Communist press, which normally ignores American movie stars. July 21, 1956 The Share In Dam Expense Doubted A spokesman told a reporter the United States, Britain and the World Bank have to review with Egypt the financing of the giant undertaking. The dam is a pet project of President Gamal Abdcl Nasser of Egypt and symbolizes Egyptian hopes to bring light and power to that underdeveloped country. For that purpose the Cairo govern ment has sought the help of the West and has received offers of aid from the Soviet Union. The Foreign Office spokesman stressed that Britain's offer to help finance the dam's construc tion "still stands." . He was then asked if it was true the British government wants to discuss further the financing arrangements with the Egyptians because "doubts have developed" about the Cairo government's ca pacity to pay its share.
