THE WEDDING of Miss Clara (Sissy) Wehde, daughter of Mrs. Izola Mitchell, Rose burg, and Britton (Dede) Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Weaver, took place June 16 at 8 p.m. in the Community Methodist Church in Days Creek with the Rev. Mr. Poindexter reading the double ring ceremony. Miss Clara (Sissy) Wehde of Days Creek became the bride of Britton (Dede) Weaver of Myrtle Creek at a double ring ceremony Saturday, June 16, at 8 p.m., at the Days Creek Community Meth odist Church, the Rev. Poindexter officiating. The bride is the daugh ter of Mrs. Izola Mitchell of Rose burg and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Weaver of .a. ...... MR. AND MRS. EDWARD McKENLEY GILBERT, above, cut the first piece of their wedding cake following their marriage Saturday evening at the Methodist Church in Independence. The bride, Patricia Posey, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Posey of Independence and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Gilbert of Roseburg. The couple will reside in Roseburg. The Methodist Church in Inde pendence was the setting for the wedding of Miss Patricia Posey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Posey, and Edward McKenlcy Gil bert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Gilbert of Roseburg. The wedding took place at 8 o'clock Saturday evening with the Rev. Roy Agte, pastor of the church, officiating. Forming a background for the double ring ceremony were two candelabra and large baskets of pink rhododendrons, white daisies and peonies. Soloist was Ron Schriber of Portland, cousin of the bridegroom who sang "Bless' This House" and "I Love You Truly." He was ac companied by Mrs. William D. Davis, who also played the wed ding music. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a wedding dress ; of white Chantilly lace and nylon tulle. The bodice and three-quarter-length sleeves were of lace and the high neckline of tulle. The skirt was floor-length with tiered pleat ed nylon tulle over white satin. For something old the bride wore a heart-shaped mother-of-pearl pin set with a ruby which had been worn by her grandmother. The elbow-length veil was worn over the face and was fastened to a crown of seed pearls and pastel sequins. She carried pink roses and white streamers on a white Bible. Mrs. James Easterly of Rn burg was matron of honor. She wore a pink and white striped taf feta street-length dress with shir red bodice and bouffant skirt, a headband of pink and white roses and carried a nosegay of pink and white roses and lily-of-the-valley. Mrs. Jack Posey, sister-in-law of the bride, was bridesmaid. She wore a pink taffeta dress, head band and nosegay identical to that worn by the matron of honor. Lit tle Miss Sherry Weaver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Weaver, was flower girl. Her dress was pink and white taffeta, styled with a fitted bodice and bouffant skirt. She carried pink and white flow ers in a pink and white crocheted basket. Little Mikie Easterly, son of the matron of honor, was ring bearer. Mrs. Joan Holt and Miss Glenda Elvin. aunt of the bride, liehted the tapers. They wore dresses and headbands identical to those worn by the other attendants. Each of the attendants wore a pearl choker, gift of the bride. Mrs. Poser attended her daugh ter's wedding wearing a pastel blue and white striped nylon dress Myrtle Creek. The bride was given in mar riage by her uncle, Elmer Sutton of Days Creek. She wore a white ballerina-length dress of nylon lace over satin, with fitted lace bolero and short veil. Her bridal bouquet was of swectpeas. Miss Fay Chin, a college class mate of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a blue lace dress, and white accessories. Mrs. Gil bert wore a pink and charcoal fig ured shantung dress and pink and white accessories. They both wore orchid corsages. Donald Crume was best man for his cousin. The ushers were Jack Posey, brother of the bride, and Bobby Gilbert, brother of the bride groom. A reception was given following the ceremony. The same decora tions as those used in the sanctu ary decorated the room. A round tiered white cake trimmed with pink birds and pink roses, topped with a miniature bridal couple, centered the reception table. Mrs. A. R. Elvin, grandmother of the bride, Mrs. Joe Dotson and Mrs. Charles Stryker cut the cake; Mrs. Marvin Dolcman poured and Mrs. Don Kriz, sister of the bridegroom served the punch. Mrs. Allen Pos ey, sister-in-law of the bride, was in charge of the guest book and Mrs. Frank Stephans of Dallas, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Wil lard Thomas of Monmouth had charge of the gifts. Assisting with the serving were Miss Mar lene Wilson, Miss Mary Lou Fos ter and Miss Marlene Burr of Dal las. For her wedding trip the bride wore a pink linen suit and white accessories. Roses from her wed ding bouquet were her corsage. After a short trip to the coast, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert are now at home in Roseburg where the bridegroom is employed. NORTHSIDE SUNSHINE CLUB MEETS THURSDAY Mrs. Lucia Ingles entertained the Northside Sunshine Club Thursday afternoon. Bouquets of sweetpeas and wild orange blos soms decorated the table and room. Visiting and games were enjoyed during the afternoon. Mrs. D. E. Schroeder was taken into the club as a new member. Mrs. George Frew won the high prize for the afternoon and Miss Bemardine Princen won the extra prize. Mrs. William Stiewig assisted the hostess in serving the refresh ments. Covers were placed for Mrs. D. E. Schroeder. Miss Ber nardine Princen, Mrs. George E. E. Emmitt, Mrs. R. D. Parsons, Mrs. M. Sory, Mrs. William Stie wig and the hostess, Mrs. Ingles. A lovely gift was presented to Mrs. Stiewig for the use of her home. The next meeting will be at the homt of Mrs. R. D. Parsons, July 12. i ballerina-length, and carried a bou quet of carnations. Candlelighters were Miss Linda Weaver and Miss Sally Adams. Both were dressed in pink. Flower girl was Sandra Sut ton, a cousin of the bride. She wore a yellow frock. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Willis H. Weaver. Ken ny Neal of Eugene and Larry Weh de of Roseburg ushered. Mrs. Laur ence .Michaels was pianist tor tne occasion. Following the church ceremony. an informal reception was held at the John button home. The bride has completed her sophomore year at OSO, and the bridegroom was graduated from SOC at Ashland. At present he is doing post-graduate work at the latter school. In September the young people will move to Oak- ridgc, where the bridegroom will teach school. SEVENTH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED AT MATINEE A Saturday afternoon matinee party marked the seventh birthday of Johnny Hancock, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Hancock of Can yonville. Following the matinee at the Ritter theater in Canyonville, John ny and his guests were served cake and ice cream at the Hancock home after which the honored guest opened his gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Orling and Mrs. Calvin Young of Myrtle Creek assisted the hostess, Mrs. Hancock. McRcynoIds of Cottage Grove read the wedding service at 8 p.m. at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Myrtle Creek. Decorations were carried out in pink and lavender. Mrs. Jerry Myers was organist and Mrs. J. Robert Schmidt sang "O Perfect Love" and "God is in My Heart." Miss Linda Rigsby of Eugene, the bridegroom's niece, and Miss Joan Mitchell of Riddle lighted the candles preceding the ceremony. They wore waltz-length gowns of pink fashioned on princess lines with headbands to match. They carried slender white tapers in white net. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her gown was waltz length, with a full skirt of blended nylon lace with scalloped hemline and fitted, sleeveless bodice. Her fingertip veil of tulle was held in place by a tiara headpiece. She carried a white and. lavender or chid on her mother of pearl Bib-, ble. Her jewelry was a single strand of pearls, a gift of the bride groom. Mrs. Patricia Rhodes of Tri City was matron of honor. She wore lav ender organdy with braided satin headband to match and carried a bouquet of lavender galdioli. Bridesmaids Lequeta Jo Nutt of Myrtle Creek and Mrs. Cliff (Joan) Rosenbaum of Ashland, sister-in-law of the bride, wore gowns fash ioned identically to that worn by the matron of honor, in pink. Don Gillespie of Riddle was best man and Charles Weakly of Riddle, and Cliff Rosenbaum of Ashland, the bride's brother, were ushers. Miss Mary Ann Vhalhofer of Prineville presented the guest book and Eunice McCaul ey, Louise Putman and Marjory Lester had charge of the gifts. For going away the bride wore a gold tweed suit with brown acces sories. Her corsage was the orchid from her bridal bouquet. Following a honeymoon in California the young people are now at home at 607 Christian St., Myrtle Creek. The bride, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl C. Roscmbaum, at tended elementary school in Prine ville and was graduated from Mvr tle Creek High School in 1956. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Liz zie Rigsby of Riddle. He attended high school in Riddle and served in the U. S. Navy. He is presently employed as a metal spotter at the Hanna Nickel Smelting Co. in Rid dle. Something borrowed was the fin gertip veil belonging to Mrs. Keith Johnson. It fell gracefully from a tiera made of seed nearls. Some thing old was the white wedding Bible belonging to Mrs. C. M. Johnson, a cousin of the bride. It was carried with a bridal bouquet of Croft lilies. Arlcne Redmond was Maid of honor. She wore a frock of pink embroidery on white with pink net headdress and an orchid bouquet. The bridegroom was graduated from Ashland High School, at tended Southern Oregon College and is presently employed by California-Oregon Power Co. in Med ford. The young people are now at home to friends at 425'i Oakdale St., Medford. Relatives coming ' from out of town to attend the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Allan Rettmann and Michael; Elaine Rettmann and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lee Rettmann and children, all of Ashland; Don Dam ron of Reno, Nev.; and Tony Dam ron of Sutherlin.
