W. E. Ott, Jr. and Fred Hargis spent a few days recently at Gold Beach where they went fishing. Visiting briefly last week with the Don Kruse family were Mrs. Rose Bue of Salem, Mr. and Mrs. Maur ice Versteeg of Portland, and Mrs. Pocan and niece, Leah, of Port land, who are mother, brother-in-law and sister and grandmother, respectively, of Jerry Wickman who is a brother-in-law of Mrs. Kruse. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Stark and family spent Sunday at Cottage Grove Dam where they-went boat ing. Mrs. Harry Hugill and children, Joe, Leila and Stanley, from Idaho spent last week visiting friends, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McFerron and family. Mrs. McFerron accom panied her to Eugene where she spent Friday and Saturday on busi ness. From there Mrs. Hugill and family went to Coos Bay to visit where they formerly resided. Hu gill, who is now in the Navy in Ice land, was formerly city engineer at Coos Bay. Miss Sharon Madson of Garden Valley, who is employed at the McFerron home, stayed with the McFerron children during their mother's absence. WOODRUFF Mr. and Mrs. Howard Scott, from Sioux Falls, S.D., and the lat ter' brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Davis, of Rosc burg were recent dinner guests of their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Abeel. Mrs. Luvina Stevens of Fresno, Calif., visited over the weekend with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clarson Chitwood, and family. She returned to Fresno by bus. Gus Youngren and Gene Horn returned to Klamath Falls, where they are employed in a mill, fol lowing a weekend spent at their home at Melrose. They were ac companied by Mrs. Youngren and the tatter's sister, Mrs. Ruby Bur nett, who stopped at Chiliquin to visit her uncle. Claude Matthews and Mrs. Youngren will go to Klam ath Falls to look for a house as they plan to move before school starts this fall. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Abeel went to Newport Sunday to take their grandson Chris Kanlett home, fol lowing a week visiting in Melrose. Recent visitors at the home of Mrs. Amy Scely was her nephew and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sachett, and son from Spokane, Wash. They were en route to Ash land where the former, who is a teacher, will attend summer school at Southern Oregon College. Mrs. Louise Johnston recently left for her home in Santa Clara, Calif., following several weeks vis iting at the home of her ,son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Den nis Johnston, and other relatives. Carl L. Jenkins has left for his home in San Jose, Calif., following a week's visit with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Johnston, at their home in West Melrose. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Johnston and family will move this week into the Ralph Cory house in the Callahan district where they will reside for the summer. The program was as fol lows: special music, boys trio; poem, Dclmar Ryan; scripture, Janet Fisher; special music, girls trio from First Christian Church of Roseburg; campers talk from boys and girls attending summer camp at Myrtle Grove, and songs led by Jimmy Carnes.
