Drain High School Commencement

Mrs. Cora Todhunter who was
recently called to Drain bv the
death of her brother, Stephen
Krewson, has returned to her home
in Spokane, Wash.
Mrs. Lion a Cellers is visiting at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. El
mer Watson, in Yacolt, Wash. Ac
companying Mrs. Cellers to Ya
colt were her son and daughter-in-law,

lers, and her daughter, Mrs. Eliz
abeth Montieth.
Attending the recent WSCS con
ference held in Klamath Falls were
Mrs. C. Ellery Echlin, Mrs. Jim

An overnight guest last week of
Mr. and Mrs. Bend Hedrick was
their grandson, Lyle Hedrick, who
was en route to San Francisco
from Portland where he is employ
ed in the Multnomah Bank.

Go To Sweden Mr. and Mrs.
C. B. Erickson -and daughter, who
reside in Sutherlin, are leaving this
month for Sweden to enjoy a vaca
tion trip.
Spend Weekend Mr. and Mrs.
C. P. Yundt Jr., son, Paul, and
daughters, Betty Lou and Robin,
spent last weekend in Brookings
where the former bowled at the
tournament held there.
Pre-School Children,
Mothers Attend Meet
Twenty-three mothers of pre
school children who will be enter
ing the first grade at Melrose
School next fall were guests with
their children of the first grade
and their teacher, Mrs. Jean Free
man, at the schoolhouse Thursday
afternoon. The mothers were greet
ed by Calvin Peterson, principal,
and by Mrs. Henry W. Scott, pres
ident of Melrose PTA.
Mrs, Nettie Ulmer, county health
nurse gave a talk to the mothers
concerning registration forms and
physical examinations required for
the pre-school child. - Mrs. Free
man, first grade . teacher at Mel
rose, also spoke to the mothers re
garding the child's first , year , of
school. ',
Following the talks, refresh
ments were served in the cafeteria
by Mrs. Chris Wulff, Mrs. C. G.
Trusty, Mrs. Dale Ellis, Mrs.
Clayton Klein and Mrs. Henry W.
Scott. Mrs. Klein was chairman
for the affair.

been spending the past six weeks
with her son-in-law and daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Percv Clifton, at
College Place, Walla Walla, Wash.,
has returned home. She was ac

Cool Sr., is returning from four
years service with the US Air
Force during which he spent more
than two years on duly in Europe
and Africa. Since returning to the
states six months ago. he has been
stationed at Curlew, Wash., on the
Canadian border. They plan to
make their home in Drain where
he will be affiliated with his father
in the hardware business.
Taking an outing at East Lake
over the weekend were Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Lee, Mr. and Mrs.
George Engelbritson, Mr. and Mrs.
Joe Edmonson, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Rutledge and Mr. and Mrs. Evans
and their families.
Attend Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Clevenger in
company with Mrs. Mabel Miller
left Friday for Boise, Idaho, where
they will, attend the wedding of
Don Lounsbury of Drain whose
marriage to Miss Virginia Van Hoy
of Modesto, Calif., will be an event
of June 2 in Boise. Both Louns
bury and Miss Van Hoy are stu
dents at the Boise Bible College.
Ernest Heaton returned home
last week from a three-week trip
to Jonesboro, Ark., where he visit
ed at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. Mary Rhama, whom he had
not seen for eight years.
A visitor at the H. A. Cool Sr.
home is Mrs. Cool's sister, Mrs. A.
Wampole of Bradwood.

The Forest Glen employes staff
held their regular monthly meet
ing at the home of Mrs. George
Akers in Tri-City with Mrs. Mer
ton Jones and Mrs. William Cole
man as hostesses.
Airs. Otto Epping resigned her
position as president and Mrs.
Jones, former vice president, was
elected to the presidency. M r s.
John Chaney was elected to fill
the vacancy left by Mrs. Jones in
the vice president's position.
At the conclusion of the busi
ness meeting, refreshments were
served by the hostesses.
