Mon., Moy 21, 1956 Tha Newt-Review, Roteburg, Ore. 11 FUNNY BUSINESS By G. MILTON KELLY WASHINGTON I - Chairman Chavez (D-NM) of the Senate De fense Appropriations subcom mittee said Saturday the Army, Navy and Air Force are courting a financial crackdown from Con gress by "being prima donnas." Chavez said he is weary of in terservice bickering which has broken into the open again in news stories which, he said, apparent ly were "planted" by Army sourc es challenging the emphasis now being placed on Air Power for de fense. "I feel they ought to quit being prima donnas and work for our common purpose, the defense of our country," Chavez told re porters. He added that this goes for all of the services. The St. Paul Pioneer Press and some other newspapers reported that the Army is declaring that present emphasis o air power will lead only to "national dis aster." "Petty jealousies ought to be done away with," Chavez said, "and the sooner the better." he added: "They'll probably see the light if one of these days the com mittees of Congress will cut their funds. And that could easily hap pen unless the Pentagon makes them get together and bury their differences." f 1 ViS-1 H Senator Chavez Hits At Bickering Anywhere under the sun you're going, ot Miller's you'll find those vacation and leisure fashions all set to go with you . . . and to go on through summer with ease.
