Grace Kelly Received 138 Titles On Wedding Prince MSASLiS EPIDEMIC ANCHORAGE, Alaska as A measles epidemic sweeping the small village of Nondalion, 200 miles southwest of here, has killed x child and stricken 50 ol the 140 residents of the town. Alaska health authorities here said 2-year-old Raymond Trefon died Tuesday aboard plane Dringing mm nere for treatment. Most of those stricken are children. MONTE CARLO OB Grace Kelly received 138 titles all at once when she wed Prince Rainier III. But many of them refer to villages long since wiped off t h e map of France. Rainier rules only over Mon aco's 370 acres. Other titles at tached to still existing places are just honorary. Grace is actually twice a prin cess, four times duchess, once a viscountess, eight times countess, four times marchioness and nine times baroness. To these are add ed 110 other titles which translate into "lady." Her second princess title is that of Princess de Chateau-Porcier. A century-old encyclopedia describes the place as a village of 1900 in habitants in eastern France with a 16th century church adorned with a "nice spire." Latest encyclopedias have dropped any mention of Chateau Porcier, and no sizeable map of France shows it. The duchess titles include that of Mazarin, reminiscent of King Louis XIV's Prime Minister. The Viscountcy of Murat harks back to Napoleonic days. Murat was Napoleon's brother-in-law. Two of the countess titles point to eastern France: Belfort and Thann. Thann sent a group of young choir singers to take part in the wedding festivities. Grace will also be Marchioness of Baux, a 12th Century village in southern France which gave its name to bauxite. The aluminum ore was first found there. She will also be marchioness of three other piaces which would appear only on a very detailed map. Most of the baroness and lady titles refer to places which were important centuries ago but which have disappeared. Jackson St. P ATHONIZE NEWS-REVIEW ABISHSESI Sen. Morse's 'Early Bird' Habit Regarded By Guests As Omen Of Win In Election By A. ROBERT SMITH News-Review Correspondent WASHINGTON It's beginning to look like the fellow who beats Sen. Wayne Morse is going to- have to get up awfully early in the mor ning to do it. Morse has been rolling out be fore dawn periodically of late to show quite proudly his herd of Devon cattle on his nearby Mary land farm to every visiting group of Orgon farmers that comes to town. This past week, for example, a group of Prineville area residents was here to urge Congress to ap prove the Crooked River reclama tion project bill. But hours before the lawmakers opened shop on Cap itol Hill the visitors had a 5 a.m. date with Sen. Morse. The senator and Mrs. Morse had got up even earlier to pick them up at their hotel and drive them out into the country for a look at the Morse herd. After a good farm breakfast, they returned them to their scheduled appointments in the capital. Apparently getting up with the cows pays off for Morse. In Ore gon last month a reporter for the Eugene Register-Guard was told by a returning farmer about get ting the red carpet treatment from Morse the cattleman. "You know," he observed, Senator Morse was about the only man in Washington who seemed to understand our problems." "Douglas, you never told ma you were a plumber." Two-Sided Plug Republicans from the 48 states and territories who were in town this past week for a high powered campaign strategy conference couldn't avoid the most outland ish display of political gadgets, knicknacks and geegaws that indi cated what lies ahead in this pres idential election year. In the hotel where they met, the GOP politicians were given the big sales pitch by the manufacturers of campaign buttons, stickers and what-have-you. They were showing virtually anything they could print those famous letters on, IKE. This included sun visors, pens, book matcnes, beer can openers, bracelets and even sheer hosiery for the gal who is so dedicated to the causa that she wants to tell every man who looks at her an kles that "I Like Ike." One clever auto sticker designed to be splashed across the back bumper of the family car was a parody on the warnings about not passing on the right. At one end it showed an elephant 'and the words, "Safe side." At the oppo site end it showed a donkey and the insecription, "Suicide." U.S. Officials Doubt Russians' Missile Claim MUNICH. Germany M5 U.S. officials predicted today the Uni-i tea Mates wiu develop an inter continental rocket capable of lev eling any place on earth. But they admitted it is extremely difficult to build a rocket accurate enough to hit a target 5,000 miles away the goal of U.S. reseachers. In general, these officials were inclined to discount the statement by Soviet Communist party chief isiikita Knrusnchev Monday teat the Russians soon would have such an intercontinental missile. "It's good propaganda," one high source commented, "bat that t all you can say for it." These views were expressed at an informal interview during the world's first international confer ence on guided missiles. The sym posium now being held here was arranged by the scientific unit of the North Atlantis Treaty Organ ization. , A score of Americans represent ing the Pentagon and aircraft in dustries are attending, along with 400 others . from NATO nations. They were willing to discuss the U.S. rocket program informally but did not want to be identified by name. NET EARNINGS UP NEW YORK (tf-United States Steel Corp.- reported Tuesday rec ord first quarter net income of $104,160,945, equal to $1.83 a com mon share. This compared with the previous record first quarter earnings last year of $72,852,402, equal to $1.25 a share, adjusted for last year's 2-for-l stock split. The Prineville visitors had a dis quieting forecast for the Morse camp. They predicted Phil Hitch cock would deleat Douglas fticivay. Morse hopes McKay will win.
