From Eugtne Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Phillips and family from Eu gene visited over the holiday week end with Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Dow and family in Roseburg. Back To Schtol Max Morgan, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Morgan, has returned to OSC to resume his studies after spending the Christ mas vacation visiting his parents. Visit Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Niel sen were their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eaton, from North Hollywood, Calif. Back Ts School Fred Hargis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hargis, has returned to his studies at OSC after spending a week in Port land and Mt. Hood skiing and vis iting with friends. Visit Here Mr. and Mrs. Mag ness fruvog from Long Beach, Calif., arrived Friday to visit at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. C. E. Brittain. The Fruvogs are former Winston residents. Sorvicomtn Ltav Harvey Simmons and Ray Mulder have returned to San Diego to complete their boot training after spending a two-week leave visiting their par ents. Move Hare Mr. and M r s. John H. Sossamon have moved from Oklahoma City, Okla., to Roseburg and are residing at 1256 SE Mill St. Mr. Sossamon is em ployed by Roseburg Lumber Co. Now Residents Recent new comers to Roseburg are -Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bailey and sons Clif ford and Kip. The family is from Astoria, where Bailey was employ ed as a topographer for Crown Zellerbach Crop. He is now work ing for the Stebenger Lumber Co. in the engineering department. House Guest Miss Terrie Mc Kenzie was a house guest recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Michener. Miss McKenzie, from California, was on her way to Eu gene to attend the Van Reiselberg Teague wedding. She returned to Roseburg after the wedding, for a longer stay. Return From Seattle Mr. and Mrs. S. Ferche have returned from a week's vacation in Seattle. While there they made their headquar ters at the Washington Hotel, and spent New Year's at the Ballard Elks Lodge. On their return they stopped in St. Helens, their former home, and visited friends. They also spent some time in Portland. Back From California G. V. Wimberly and Mr. and M r s. George Wharton are back at their homes in Roseburg, following the holidays in California. Wimberly visited his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald C. Wimberly, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Wharton vacationed In San Francisco. Visit In Springfield The Rev. and Mrs. C. E. Back Te Work Mrs. Iva Rus sell, head nurse at the Douglas County Home, has returned to work after an absence of over two months. Mrs. Russell underwent surgery Oct. 23. Holbrook, spent the last several days in Coos Bay visiting her friend, Miss George anne Bradburn. She returned here by plane Wednesday and then left for Ashland to resume her studies at Southern Oregon College. Purchase Home Mr. and Mrs. Charles Powell have purchased a home at 3149 Follett St., Roseburg. They formerly resided in Paulding, Mich. The Powells have a daugh ter, 16, and five sons, 13, 12, 10, 8 and 6. Mr. Powell is with Rose burg Lumber Co. President is Harry Bakken; vice president, Forrest Kennaday, and secretary, Jack Mills. Directors for the year are: Ray Talbert, Gil bert Mangess, Fearn Moore, George Churchill, Ray Bellou, Wil liam Oleson, Byron Evans and Ben Scrafin. The program opened with an In vocation by Carl Messing. Dr. Har old Mikkelsen, Roseburg Kiwani an, led the assembly in singing "America," followed by a triple trio of Glide High School girls led by Carol Graber, vocal instructor, who presented two selections. The young vocalists were L.inda lnnrp. Shernn Cox. Karen Hill, Judy Suhrstedt, Janet Harris, Jua- nita coie, iviary aneuon, viitm nu son and Rosalie Simpson. Hay Talbert then introduced di visional Lt. Gov. Ron Rice of Mcd ford, who installed the new officers for 1956. Lt. Gov. Rice presented a past president's pin to Ben Sera fin, retiring president and com monded him for the work of the 'Glide Kiwanis Club through 1955. Out-of-town Kiwanians preseni were Lt.
