Union Money Used For Goon Work, Girls, Says Clerk MILWAUKEE, Wis. fl A for mer employe of local 494 AKL International Eelecineal Workers testified in federal tax court last week that unrecorded union funds were used for "good of the union" including "goon work" and "girlie shows and liquor" for poli ticians and union officials. The government, in the civil action which does not carry prison penalties, alleges Mrs. Prokop 'gained control" of $i:U,747 in union funds. Mrs. Prokop, a 17-year employe of the local before she was asked to resign in 1947, has protested the amount of the assessment cov ering the years 1944 through 1947. She testified the funds were used for union purposes and the re mainder turned over to local offi cials. She told the court some funds were recorded and some were not because the late Edward J. Brown, foimer international president and local business manager, needed money "for what was upposed to be the good of the union..." Some of the purposes, she said, were: "Goon work, including the use of stench bombs and in one case a real bomb. "Secret political contributions and illegal campaigning for union offices. "Entertainment of union officials and politicians with girlie shows , 'and liquor. "Whatever Mr. Brown asked for. he took," Mrs. Prokop said.
