Members j and friends are invited to hear Airs, niton. Ground Observer Post Located In C. Valley A new Ground Observer Corps post has been established in Doug las County. It is located at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Bostwick in Garden Valley. The Boslwicks live on Big Bend Road, and Mrs. Bostwick will be chief observer. She will main tain the post during daylight hours and will be relieved by her hus band when possible. Both have had air walch exper ience with the Koseburg GOC post, reports Correspondent A d d i e Schneider. Approximately 20 ladies were present. 12 Bodies Being Brought From High Mountain I.AS VEGAS. Nev. m Horses and men labored in freezing weath er on the snow-covered slopes of Mt. Charleston today to finish bringing out the bodies of 14 men killed in the crash of an Air Force transport. Twelve bodies were brought down on horseback last night. Am bulances took them to the Nellis Air Force Base near Las Vegas for identification. I.t. Io G. Piper of the Air Force said it is expected the remaining two bodies will be recovered today. The C34 plane crashed Thursday at the 11.300-foot level as it was en route from Burbank, Calif., to the Nevada atomie testing ground. The 14 aboard included five Air Force men, five Air Force civil ian workers, two aviation engineers and two consultants. The cause of the crash has not been determined. Lt. Men Attend Mosquito Control Meeting; Two Douglas County men at- j tended the state meeting of t h e Oregon State Mosquito and Vector .Control Assn. held recently in Eu gene. Sanilariun Irv Reierson and county vector control Officer Fred Lamoureaux report that a former Douglas County health department member. LaVerne Miller, was elected an officer of the associa tion. Miller is secretary-treasurer. He is now a stale health depart ment employe. Milton Buhler, Eugene, was elec ted president. Approximately 32 persons attended the two day meet, Nov, 17-18. Major task of the group is to plot ways and means of killing more mosquitoes, Lamoureaux said. The unique problem of Douglas County, control of mosquitois in festing mill ponds, was discussed at the session. In no other part of the country does such a problem confront residents. Former Resident Dies In Eugene Mrs. Stanford (Marie) Williams, 32, former resident of Roseburg, died at a Eugene hospital Sunday, following a brief illness. She and her nusband had been attending the Bible Standard Insti tute in Eugene. It is a ministerial school there. Surviving besides her husband is an adopted son, Danny Williams. Mrs. Williams was a member of the Church of the Open Bible of Roseburg. Her body has been brought to Roseburg by Long 4t Orr Mortuary. Funeral arrange ments will b announced later.
