Go To Texas Mr. and Mrs. Dellon Magness of Koseburg left Monday for Lubbock, Tex., to visit the latter's mother. Back From Trip Mr. and Mrs. Frank Purdy have returned to their home in Roseburg, following the last several weeks in Bowling Green, Ohio, visiting relatives. Back From Vacation Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reed and children, Carolyn, Bruce and Douglas, are back at their home in Roseburg, following a week's vacation at Sea side and other coastal points. Return To Portland Mr. and Mrs. James B. Joyce came to Roseburg recently to visit the lat ter's daughter, Mrs. Roy Byrd, who recently underwent surgery at Douglas Community Hospital, and to take back to Portland the Roy Byrd children until their mother is able to be home again. ' Stop Over Her Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Porter and sons, Gary and Kenneth, returned to their home in Eugene Sunday evening, follow ing a trip to Grants Pass to attend a family reunion of Mrs. Porter's family, and a stop over in Rose burg to visit Mr. Porter's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and M r s. Frederick J. Porter. Returning This Week Harold Shanks, employee at Douglas Com munity Hospital, joined his wife in Los Angeles over the weekend and will spend this week vacation ing in California. They will return home the last of the week. Mrs. Shanks has been in California for the last 10 days vacationing and visiting relatives. Wolkert Return Mr. and Mrs. Ora Welker have returned to their home in Roseburg from Klamath Falls wrere they were called by the illness of the latter's sister, Mrs. Robert Dunlap, who was at first reoorted to have had a stroke of paralysis. However it was found upon later diagnosis that she was suffering from & pinched nerve. Mrs. Dunlap is reported to be con siderably improved but is still in the Hospital at Kiamam tans. Enjoys Timber Days Among those especially enjoying the Tim ber Days celebration Sunday at Sutherlin was Raymond Buck Lange, son of Mrs. Dee Fox, of this city. Raymond was seriously injured in an automobile accident last December m beattle and was moved to the Douglas County Hos pital here in March. Through the efforts of the employes of the hos nital and his step-brother, Ralph Fox, who hired a panel truck for transportation, Raymond was able to. enjoy the day. The group was entertained at dinner Sunday eve ning at the Dick Brown home, alt er which Raymond was returned to the hospital. Wins Trophis According to word received here, Seaman Carol Bishop, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bishop of Roseburg, who recently transferred to the Hospi tal Corps School in Bainbridge, Maryland, from the Naval Base at Pensacola, Fla., won first place in the 100-meter free style swim meet at Central Conference and then went to Dallas. Tex., for the All- Navy Eastern Conference meet. At tne latter meet, she won the trophy for first place in the 100-meter free style race and also first place in the 100-meter breast stroke race. The swimming team going to Dal las went by American Airlines. Carol attended school in Roseburg before entering the service. Loaves For East Charles Mel ton, who has been spending his leave here, has left' for Boston to return to his military base. Visit In Drain Mrs. R. El wood Smith and twin daughters, Caroline and Catherine, of Rose burg were recent guests in Drain of Mrs. W. G. Chatham. Ce To Wolf Creek Camp Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wassom and sons, Jimmy, Bruce and Donnie, of Roseburg enjoyed a picnic Sunday at the Wolf Creek camp. Leave Sunday The Rev. and Mrs. Donald R. Oscarson left Roseburg Sunday for Rock Island, 111., where the former will attend the Lutheran College. He has spent the last year as pastor of Faith Lutheran unurcn here. Water Ski Sunday Among those enjoying the water skiing at the Forks Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Alan Knudtson, Dr. and Mrs. Verner Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Golden, Jack Loomis, Rae and John Betlach and Mel Groo man. Visiting Her Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Miller of Portland are spending the week in Roseburg as guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Pres ton. Mr. Miller is attending to business during the week. He was formerly with the Douglas Coun ty Sanitary department. Moves To California Miss ing in Portland the last couple of years has moved to Bell Gardens, Calif, to reside. En route to Cali fornia she stopped over in Rose burg for the weekend to visit her grandmother, Mrs. Anna Nickson on West First St. Betty was grad uated from Roseburg High School. She resided with her grandmother before going to Portland. Leave Monday Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Fulmer and daughter, Bet ty, left Monday for their home in Yakima, Wash., following a visit in Roseburg with the former's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Fulmer, who celebrated their golden wen ding anniversary Sunday. They also visited his brother-in-law and sis ter, Mri and Mrs. Chris Raade, and his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Fulmer, while in Roseburg. Coming For Visit Mrs. R. W. Marsters and her daughter, Mrs. Kcrmit Johnson, and the- latter's two children, Janelle and Roger, are arriving in Roseburg Wednes day for a visit with relatives and friends. Mrs. Marsters is expected to spend a week or so here, while Mrs. Johnson and children will re turn to Portland Friday. Mrs. John son was formerly Dorothy Mars ters. The family resided here for many years. Mrs. Marsters moved to Salem from here and then later went to Portland to be with her daughter. . . Mrs. Robertson Horn Mrs. John William Robertson 'returned to her work Monday as Douglas County Circuit Court reporter, fol lowing 5V4 weeks on a trip to T5u roDe. She was one of 8600 dele gates to the week-long World Baptist Conference Alliance in London. Twenty delegates were from Oregon, one of wnom, iuiss Bertha Kohlhagen of Salem and formerly of this city, was includ ed. Mrs. Kobertson reports lour delegates present from Russia. She enioved a 1200-mile tour of Scot land, Wales and England, before going to Paris, Holland, Germany and Switzerland. She stopned over in Lancaster, Penn., to visit rela tives of her mother and was met in Portland Sunday by her bus band and their daughter. Camille and son. John Marvin, who brought her back to Roseburg.
