FAREWELL PARTY GIVEN AT SUTHERLIN Mrs. Dolores Jackson and Mrs. Ida Lehman were hostesses at a farewell party Monday evening at the Jackson home on- MarDonna Drive, honoring Mrs. Betty Cor rell, a member of the Associated Business Womens Club, who is leaving Sutherlin soon. Beautiful bouquets of gladioli were used about the rooms. Games were played during the social hour with Mrs. Correll and Mrs. Halvorsen winning prizes. Mrs. Correll was presented a gift from the club. After the social hour the host esses, Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Leh man, served refreshments to the guest of honor, Mrs. Betty Correll and Mesdames Marion Buchanan, Eleanor Anderson, Olga Bielman, Doris Steinbach, Ora Irwin, Juan ita Atterbury, .Laura Metcalf, Marge Williams, Lochie Thomp son, Lina Torrey, Ivena Halvor sen, Dena Bennett and Miss Jackie Kennedy. MELROSE CLUB HAS ANNUAL PICNIC Melrose Friendly Hour Club members and their families held their annual picnic Sunday at Fenn grove. The afternoon was spent in visiting by the adults while the chidren enjoyed t h a swings. Present for the enjoyable affair were Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Coilell, Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Bly, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Rogers home was the scene of a very lovely wedding Wednesday, July 20, when Claudia Elane Rogers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.. R. Rogers of Sutherlin, became the bride of Harvey Le roy Whitten of Sutherlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern L. Whitten of Poeatello, Idaho. The Rev. H. Brown of the As sembly of God Church preformed the impressive double ring cere mony in the presence of a few friends and relatives, at eight o'clock in the evening. The fireplace mantle was beau tifully decorated with white gladi oli, sweet peas and large candles. Soft music and the traditional wedding marches were played. The Rev. Brown sang "I Love You Truly." The bride, given in marriage by her father, was beautiful in a light tan suit with matching accessories and a Sardinia corsage. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Rogers chose a one piece brown dress. The bridesaroom's mother wore light blue taffeta. Follwoing the ceremony a wed ding reception was held with the bride and bridegroom cutting the first piece of the wedding cake, which was topped by a miniature bride and groom. The serving table was covered with a lace cloth. Out of town guests at the wed ding were Mr. and Mrs. Vern Whit ten and daughter, Janet, oi laano. The brodeqroom is a graduate of Poeatello High school and of Col lege of Idaho at Caldwell, and is employed at Bonanza Mines. The bride is a graduate of the Suther lin High School. The couple will be at home to friends at a new home on Terrancc Lane and Fourth Avenue. RIDDLE COUPLE MARRIED IN JULY Miss Barbara Macdonald. daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. William Mac donald of Riddle, became the bride of Bill Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Edwards of Rid dle Saturday, July 30, at the Church of the Open Bible with the Reverend Don Powell officiating. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a pink jacket dress with white accessories, and a white carnation corsage. She carried a white Bible topped with a white nosegay. Mrs. Warren Wil son of Bend, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, wearing a smoke gray princess dress with red accessories and a corsage of red carnations. Miss Charlotte Strode, bridesmaid, wore a beige faille, with red accessories and red carnation corsage. Attending the bridegroom were his brother, Glenn Edwards, and Roy Weather ford. Following the ceremony, a re ception was held at the home of the bridegroom's parents. WESLEYAN GUILD HAS ENJOYABLE PICNIC The annual picnic of the Wesle yan Service Guild of the Methodist Church, which was scheduled for Umpqua Park on Monday evening July 25 was held instead at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wiley on South Kane Street. - Members of the euild with their families and several guests enjoyed tile hospitalitv of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley. The picnic lunch was served buffet style in the spacious recrea tion room and on the patio. MARRIAGES PERFORMED BY CANYONVILLE JUSTICE Canyonville Justice of Die Peace Nina Pietzold united three couples in marriage at her home this past weekend, setting an all-time record. On July 29 Justice Pietzold mar ried Robert Lee Toll and Judith Ann Noel of Riddle with Joanne Trueax and Daniel Ensslin, also of Riddle, as witnesses. On July 30 Delbert Moore of Days Crock was married to Ida Mae William son of Glendale with John D. Moore, Days Creek, and Oscar I. Williamson, Glendale, witnesses.
