Cap Three-Run Overtime Rally
A three-run rally in the top of the twelfth inning: and
southpaw Bill Oerding's two-inning relief pitching gave
Koseburg's Lockwood Motors American Junior Legion base
ball forces a 7-4 decision over Central Point-Medford in a
key Southern Oregon Legion district baseball playoff game
at Medford Wednesday night.
Both teams relieved starting pitchers in the 11th inning
under a legion rule which requires that no pitcher throw
more than 10 innings of any one game.
Koseburg got to relief hurler Bill Herman of the losers
for three hits, led by Billy Rudzik's home run for the con
test's clinching runs. ,
Oerding tossed scoreless ball in the 11th frame after re
placing Dick Smith and then set the home team down in
order in the bottom of the 12th inning.

The teams exchanged runs in the

the sixth to tie it up. Then neither
team produced for five straight

Valley, scored in the third inning
after singling, moved to second on
Smith's sacrifice and tallied on
Gene Policy's hit through the box.
Medford came back with one run
on a walk, a fielder's choice that
advanced the runner and a single

The game-tying run in the sixth
followed. Jerry Droscher hit safe
ly, moved to second on an infield

River above Robertson Bridge.
Good catches are being reported
between Gold Hill and town of
Rogue River, with best catches in
the vicinity of the mouth of Foots
Creek. Flics in the evening are
producing best catches but small
spinners during the day. Fish Lako
in Jackson County continues to pro
duce well. Trout fishing is slow on
the North and South Umpqua riv
ers, hummer steclhead angling in
the North Umpqua is fair. The
North Umpqua River is somewhat
turbid but seems to be clearing.
The waters of the South Umpqua
are muddy because of construction
work. A number of shad are In
the main Umpqua from the forks
to the town of Umpqua, and some
are being taken on red headed
flies.

loss to the league-leading Seattle

the absence of permanent chair
man Bob Davis, that purchase o(
the plaques may be classified as
a donation by the buyer at the
price he pays for each.
Friday, a committee of club
members will meet with members
of the school district board to
gain final approval to go ahead
with the building project.
A nine-man board of directors
and planning committee to expe
dite the present project and any
future projects was named by Mc
Kay and approved by the club.
This group included the three
club officers, Davis, McKay and
secretary - treasurer Bill Garri.
